If the league shifts more westward in profile, so be it. Great locales, great climates and great cities.
Only problem is that while they are going after major markets, the schools are step children in their own home town. Houston and SMU play second fiddle to Texas in their home towns. Tulane plays second fiddle to LSU in their home town and the Tigers to UT, OM and other SEC schools here. They are adding major football markets but not the major football name in these markets.
Nothing you can do about that, but you can get better advertising dollars in New Orleans, Dallas and Houston than you can in Hattiesburg, Birmingham or Huntington. Not to mention the potential recruits you can reach. So much talent in those areas that the Big XII and SEC can't get them all.
Actually, I do believe that the Birmingham tv market is larger than either Memphis or New Orleans.

I would miss Houston. SMU and the rest are another story. Doesn't matter anyway as the TV money everyone was excited about left with the previous defections (No network is going to shell out big bucks for the instable membership that is left).
Just look at it as a suped up version of the old CUSA (and especially the new CUSA) and it isnt all that bad. No, it isnt the promised land, but none of the teams that can leave now have anything to do with that.
Maybe we can even hang on to UC,UCONN, and Temple for a while. Best bball league we have been in for a long time and teams we can be competetive with in football.
And we get rid if that dippy CUSA moniker.

It is a logistical nightmare. A nationwide conference doubles if not triples our athletic expenditures. Too many looking at the incoming without examining the outgoing. For some reason no matter which subject we discuss people ignore the outgoing expenditures.

I don't think anyone is thinking a national conference with all sports unless there are divisions. Then you only play between divisions for championships, or if you choose to. Basically best of MWC is one division, and the nBe is the other. Obviously it isn't that simple, but I think that is the basic premise.

in ranking, Bmgham is 40 and Mphs is 48, but I'm talking about $$$ revenue.
Looking at your stats shows how important Houston and SMU are along with some other present and future Big East schools.
#4 Philly
#5 Dallas
#10 Houston
#13 Tampa
#28 San Diego
#53 New Orleans.
