RE: Wright State wrong school game thread
Very good response in the 2nd half. Parker took over early and Rubles was very active. I thought Rubles put on a nice display for Lawrence in terms of a what an athletic big can do in this offense. I liked that we took advantage of their aggressive D with back cuts and lobs for some easy baskets.

Starting to get very concerned about Mbodj's foul problems. He's had at least 4 fouls in 7 of his last 9 games and he can barely stay on the floor. We really need him for conference play.

Offensively we can't keep taking a half off. The last three games our first half totals are 25, 22, and 22.

I guess if like watching them play one really good half of basketball and one really pathetic half of basketball, then everything is fine.

The first halves against Xavier and Wright State were nothing but stupidity.

The second halves bordered on genius.

Bad halves, yes, including some bonehead plays, but most just poor shooting IMO.

I agree. I think Mick needs to shut the guy down on the 3's. He hasn't shown that he can hit them with any kind of sane regularity. I'm thinking about the same for Rubles. 1 FOR 22 isn't a good thing either.

Not sure why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch. UC has had two bad games in which they've had a bad first half. It's not uncommon for players/teams to have bad games or go cold on offense. We should all be thankful Mick Cronin's defense is so good that Cincinnati can always lean on that when they aren't shooting well.

i didn't see this game but i watched X and Bama, and the gripe is this: the first half offense is bad offense. it would be different if they were playing well and the shots weren't falling (which admittedly is sometimes the case) but it's the fact that they aren't attacking and are settling for shots instead of running the offense. And if you think posters here are the only ones getting their "panties" in a bunch, you should listen to Mick post game.

RE: Wright State wrong school game thread
The entire team was settling for jump shots in the 1st half including having guys that can't hit 3's jacking them up. Additionally on the defensive end there was very little pressure and hardly any deflections. They owe a big thank you to J. Parker today who took over the game early in the 2nd half to provide the spark needed. Rubles also had a better 2nd half after it appeared he figured out there was a reason he was standing wide open from the 3 point line.

Mick will always find something to gripe about. That's what makes him a great coach. The fact that they sometimes have brain farts on offense doesn't worry me when their body of work on the offensive side of the ball has been impressive this year.

i agree with Mick on this one. i think they don't work as hard on offense as they should and that leads to bad shots/bad offense. The Bearcats are undefeated and should be top 10 this coming week but this is something they positively need to get straightened out.

agree with above comments and the beuty of it all is...our defense is so good on a night we can't hit crap in BOTH halves we will still have a shot to win it. This team is gonna be in a position to make a deep run in March folks.

I'm more concerned about Mbodj being so weak around the basket on offense. Terry Nelson told during a game that Mbodj just needs to look to dunk the ball when he's under the basket. The guy still has a horrible habit of wanting to dribbled once and then fake 2 or three times and then forcing a horrible shot off the glass that is way too hard. If he was playing PINBALL, it would be a TILT. He should be better than that and the big east big men will exploit that if he doesn't kick it in gear.
