According to the Wyoming poster on the Realignment Board claiming to be in-the-know (seems legit, but who doesn't? -lol), looks like UTEP is being included in the 14 and 16 team MWC scenario. Who knows....
Houston, SMU, Memphis, and even Cinci/UConn fans think their team is going to the MWC. Some laugh at UTEP being looked at, but they totally underestimate UTEP's history with those teams, and how many of their fans want UTEP with them.
In the end, looks like UTEP might actually have 3 options. Just glad we didn't pay fees without solid footing.
I'm starting to think that the worst-case scenario is that we will end up with Memphis, Cinci, ECU, Tulane, etc..... So we lose no ground.

Worst case scenario is we stay in cusa w/ no Tulsa. Worst case scenario is a best of conference forming to our west and to our east both without us. It can get bad for us.

I don't see the nBE inviting us.
I hope the nMWC invites us (again).
I no longer see a new conference forming.
I don't think UTEP gets left behind for a second. The Miners make a ton of sense for the MWC, and that's the one conference that seems to be doing sensible things.

I hope you are right. USU and SJSU are holding two valuable seats at the MWC table.

Most of what I read, seems to include UTEP in the MWC.
Maybe I had already resigned myself to being in the new CUSA, and see nothing but opportunity in any of the scenarios. Even if left in CUSA, I could see us becoming the UNLV of the Big West (or whatever conf they were in, when they were the national bball powerhouse).

This is probably the best route. I have settled with the fact that our football is our only inhibiting factor in this realignment environment. It's best to settle and then jump for joy if invited, more so if UTEP actually pays the exit fee to accept.

It is so frustrating that UTEP showed loyalty to CUSA and passed on an MWC invite that eventually went to SJSU. Now they are in a much better position than us.
While not off topic and not breaking any rules, can we delete that post or move it somewhere else. This is the UTEP board. Not the Pimp nBE board or Pimp Memphis board. If I wanted to hear that type of opinion I would have posted on the general board.
I haven't been following this 24/7 but the last I heard/read was that the MWC schools (not including BS or SDSU) were staying put. Its in UTEP best interest if BSU or SDSU head east. Increases our chances of heading west.
This OP seems to be hearing some stuff FWIW. Who knows, but it doesn't sound like pimping or just wishful thinking. Interesting stuff either way, based on what he is hearing over at Wyoming's athletic dept offices. LINK
It sounds like the start of this REO Speedwagon song "heard from a friend who, heard it from a friend who....."
It doesn't seem likely to me that MWC schools would want to form a 16 team conference. Isn't that the reason why they left the WAC?
I think it is more likely that the MWC wants to stay at 10 schools. Therefore I have to agree that UTEP's best chances come from Boise and San Diego leaving.
It's a catch 22. If those schools stay, the conference looks good but UTEP is likely out.
If they go, UTEP could get in but the conference becomes more like the Big West.
