SEC expansion personal favorites
I am posting this here instead of the realignment board, hoping to get responses from SEC fans rather than the site as a whole. What I want to know is.... If the SEC were to expand by two more teams and stop for the next 40-50 years, who would you want them to add?

This isn't a question of who is most likely, but rather YOUR preference. I would prefer the choices be somewhat in the realm of possibility and not something like Ohio State and Stanford.

RE: SEC expansion personal favorites
While Florida and Georgia have blocked them in the past, I would love to see Florida State in the SEC. They just feel like an SEC school. Traditionally good football and baseball and occasionally good basketball. Good fit but the ACC exit fee and the blocks may keep them out.

I would also like West Virginia, but wanting to keep it in the realm of possibility likely rules them out due to the Big XII GOR.

So my choices are UNC and Virginia Tech. I don't think it will go down like that, but that's the two I would want if it's 16 and stop. It's the two markets we want and would be adding schools with the potential to compete for titles in football, basketball and baseball.

I've always liked the idea of East Carolina. They are good in baseball and at times solid in football. My only real problem with ECU is that they should drop the East part of their name. Carolina Universtity sounds more like an SEC program. ECU sounds more like a directional school. Which they aren't.

RE: SEC expansion personal favorites
I know the objections but I would have liked for the SEC to complete its 16 team field with the best two fits for the conference, which are the top 2 television draws from the ACC and their two attendance leaders, Florida State and Clemson which are unfortunately two SEC schools trapped in the ACC.

Having said that the SEC is not stopping at 16 and Slive told everyone today he wasn't concerned with numbers. He wants quality additions for the future of the conference. Last year he said conferences had only one limit on their size, profitability. The SEC will consider the following schools Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Florida State (in spite of the "gentlemen's agreement" which only existed by agreement for additions #13 & 14 and no longer exist for future additions) and possibly Cincinnati.

If the SEC lands its objectives of Duke and North Carolina they will likely expand to 18 by offering either Virginia and Virginia Tech, or Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. Should the Big 10 land Virginia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Duke look for the SEC to counter with Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, and Florida State. If Pitt refuses they may look to add Cincinnati. If Delany takes a school in the Southeast (Georgia Tech) Slive will counter with 1 or 2 schools in the Big 10 footprint (Pitt & or Cincy).

But know this my personal preference is for 20 teams in 4 divisions of 5.
The six I would like to see added are Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, Florida State, and Clemson.
