OSU HC Urban Meyer's sister is a U of Cincy employee, he's been contacted by the University to make a pitch to the ACC to get Cincy invited to join that league! 04-jawdrop

O what a tangled web conference realignment has weaved.

Juicy? Dunno.

Odd? Yeah. I think Meyer was right, it would have been contrived and of little value.

This whole BE thing is pretty interesting to me. But, I've always liked UPorkopolis, and hope they come out alright.

The fact that U of Cincy asked the HC of an instate talent competitor to make a pitch on their behalf to get into a better football conference in which they would be a more significant competitor to OSU in terms of recruiting is just amazing.

What would UM's angle for making this pitch for U of Cincy, what would he get in return? 05-stirthepot

Nobody does something like this for free. Just like the live video feed recruiting pitch that Thad Matta & UB made on the Indians behalf for OSU alum Nick Swisher; you think they and OSU are doing that for the Indians for nothing. What are they and OSU getting for this?

All good questions. I don't know. UM is a Cincy alumnus. Or, sometimes you have to do a small thing to keep something worse from happening.

If ZSU becomes the only AQ playoff team in one of the richest talent states in the country, other programs are going to be peeved. Heck, even the regents might finally get peeved, especially when they realize that UC got several million dollars for their BCS game, and now they'll be fighting 60 other teams for scraps.

It might benefit ZSU to have Cincy in an AQ league to deflect criticism, while putting them in a league where they won't compete too much.

The next question would be, why would the ACC give a rat's ass about what Urban Meyer thinks about their expansion, or anything else for that matter?

You need to be educated about Urban Meyer and his relationship with UC. Urban is not just a guy whose sister works at UC. The Meyer family has a long history with UC. Urban's granfather was a professor at UC. Urban's father attended UC. His four children attended UC. Urban attended UC on a baseball scholarship and played football. He met his wife while she attended UC. Regarding Urban's sister, she is just not a part-time secretary in the English Department. She is a Professor Economics at UC and currently serves as a Vice Provost.

It makes perfect sense for UC to reach out to him in this situation.

Cincy to the B1G...

Not a chance... They bring nothing that the B1G does not already have. No new markets, not AAU, no new recruiting grounds..

But the ACC?

I could see htem fit but why in the world would you have the OU head coach?

Good info.

So why didn't Pork U hire him before BG?
