So said former AD told him to take a hike.

Either last year or the year before Bootsy and Jeff Ruby were on the sidelines for a Bearcat game.

I think Lawrence has to consider who is in front of him on the depth chart. I know everyone would expect a top 25 recruit to come in and start right away, but I don't see it happening.

Rubles/JJ are ahead of him at his position. And even Shaq Thomas a bit. I don't know enough about Lawrence's offensive game though. Thomas and Rubles have terrible shot-form. JJ is more of a defensive specialist. If Lawrence has a huge offensive arsenal, that would give him a leg up.

I still don't see him completely unseating those guys ahead of him though.

The other question next year will be wtih Mbodj gone, is Nyarsuk the man......or does Mick go with a smaller low post lineup? Plus you have Strickland to consider unless he sits to learn his entire frosh year.

The problem with highlight videos is they always show them dunking over and over. I'd love to see more jumpshots and three pointers.

Dude does have a very good handle for being a tall guy. Not sure I believe he's 6'-9" though. Looks more like 6'-7 to me.

Premium athleticism. Looks smooth with the ball unlike some players.

I didn't notice any weird form to his shot. So that's a plus.

If Lawrence comes here I think he'd see significant pt right away. I agree the videos don't show many jumpers, but really think about Rubles' and JJ's jump shots, it wouldn't take much for Lawrence to have a better shot than them. Just looking at the videos he reminds of a bigger Lance Stephenson. Here's a video that has him shooting a few jumpers, looks pretty good to me.

He's a legit 6'9".

Hmmm. Actually, he doesn't remind me of Lance at all. If he is 6'-9", and he can shoot the 3, the obvious comparison is Dermarr. But he looks wayyyy more athletic than Dermarr was.

What I noticed on those videos is that when he penetrates, he is very much under control with a good handle, and he is smooth around the basket.

I don't want to get my hopes up. But St. Johns is loaded with talent. And they haven't done much with it. UC's new style has to be enticing to recruits. And if Lawrence watched the Xavier and Wright State games, there was no shortage of athleticism, alley-oops, dunks, stickbacks, blocks..........this team is fun to watch, and occasionally frustrating. But they definitely have a fun style of play.

UC being #8 in the country and poised to be near the top of the Big East has to impress too. Along with coming off of two Sweet Sixteen appearances.

I mean, next year, you could rotate the guards in at PG and SG, and actually use JJ at center, and have Rubles and Lawrence at the other 2 spots. With Sanders, Thomas rotating in too. Almost too many options (you can never have too many options, I know).

If UC goes far in the NCAA Tournament, it wouldn't surprise me to see the kid choose UC.

Mary Kline Classic @MKC2K13
2012 MKC underclassmen co-MVP Jermaine Lawrence is down to Cincinnati, UNLV & St. John's. He will decide soon.

those two schools make me cringe when it comes to recruits. anthoney bennett will probably be gone from unlv after the season. seems to me them's the school to beat. on a side note, i just read a fantastic article about tark the shark in the latest playboy. if it's all true, i feel for jerry though he's similar to lance armstrong in not clearing your name.

As I said not sure what the current relationship is now, looks lie it may have been smoothed over if Ruby is back attending, but for a few years we stopped taking recruits there and the AD and ruby weren't best of buds.
