RE: Bobby Wilder himself is calling for a press conference at 3pm today
There is no way Bobby Wilder is leaving without Brian McMurphy tweeting it first lol

There is no way he is leaving without Twitter blowing up for that matter.

Even if he did, there is no doubt that this job will be highly coveted. It will no doubt attract some major talent from across the country.

I think Bobby Wilder is here for his career though. If he had come in to replace someone that's one thing, but this is his program that he personally put together. This is his legacy. He will be here until retirement. Job security. He has it here.

Maybe it's coincidence but Boston College just announced today the hiring of a defensive coordinator as the new coach is building his staff

From a standpoint of personality and maturity; it is almost blasphemy to mention BW and Kiffin in the same sentence. 01-wingedeagle

It is blasphemous but BW wasn't compared to Lame Kitten or even mentioned in the sentence.

RE: Bobby Wilder himself is calling for a press conference at 3pm today
Harry Minium tweeted that the Press Conference is to announce the signing of possibly six junior college players. Not the gloom and doom of Wilder leaving the program. When that happens it most likely would not be announced at an ODU press conference, but a press conference at the school he's leaving for.

Minium:
Bobby Wilder says ODU has had "meaningful conversations" with Conf. USA about becoming eligible for league title and bowl bid in 2014

That would be big

This would benefit the existing team in a big way from a psychological standpoint; AND would be absolutely huge from a recruiting perspective.

Would be huge; and he wouldn't have said it if it was not a very real possibility.

Harry tweets that 9 players will enroll in January. Including our two highest rated high school recruits: Kanyia Anderson a DE from Oscar Smith and TJ Armstrong a LB from PA. Both will participate in Spring Drills. Great news.

Nice to see that two of our top recruits will be building a rapport with the team this spring. The earlier the better, especially at DE.

Really? When people leave a school, there's a press conference at the school they are leaving to announce it, not the school hiring him?

Not really. We gave him a good FCS contract. For an FBS coach it's nowhere near massive and will be renegotiated.

Massive in terms of years.

Sounds like ambition bordering on hubris. Lets get him thru a partial FBS year before making heisman noise.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it! The powers that be want to send a clear message to Taylor that he is the current face of the program and that they have the utmost confidence in his ability to produce at the Fbs level

RE: JUCO signing day
While I understand the point that it does put some unnecessary pressure on Mr. Heinecke, I do think that a. He can handle it well, he is mentally mature enough to take this pressure and use it as motivation and that b. Even if there is a very slim chance he ever wins it, even with outrageous stats, just putting that out there can have a very positive effect on recruiting, even if it's not entirely realistic.

Kids want to play with a winner at qb, and Taylor heinecke is most certainly that.
