MBB Game 11: College of Charleston (ESPN3)
ODU: 1-9 (0-1)
CoC: 5-4 (1-0)
Hard to believe this is the first time we have EVER played CoC. They've had an interesting year so far. They beat Baylor, but also lost to DII Anderson. I'm probably insane, but I think we pull this one out. Game tips at 7:30. Streaming available on ESPN3.

They just lost to DII Anderson where no one scored from 14:25 to 9:26 in the 2nd half. Sounds like a team we can hang with!
Let's get win #2!!

It's possible. They shoot better than us (not by much), but we are averaging more points per game. Should be close.

I've seen too much Blaine Taylor to say we are going to win this one. Painter and Bacote rot on the bench, Wright plays 35 minutes, and CofC wins by 10.

They have more talent and experience and are just as motivated to get this win. We won't turn this thing around until BT shortens his rotations. I would just play the best 7 guys.

Be bold and pull the redshirt off the big kid, so we don't look so weak inside. It worked well a year ago on the gridiron...
I'll admit that I've never seen the kid play but there's no way I'm convinced that he wouldn't grow more by playing other teams vs practicing against our own. If he was enough to earn a schollie, I say develop him in games..

The team with the worst record in the CAA beats it's coveted replacement.
You think the CAA is bad now..........

I watched him in the first exhibition. He's certainly got some skills, and he's clearly got some size.
But he most definitely needs that redshirt. Anachebe is a raw recruit, far more so than any of our other freshmen players.

Wanna bet on that and your boy Blaine?
Zero chance we win this game. Our guys aren't even remotely ready for that environment. I highly doubt we repeat our Murray state road performance.
I see a solid double digit road loss to a very veteran, very talented team.
A team that beat a ranked Baylor fairly convincingly.

And play that exact lineup 30 minutes a game, let then play together, as a unit, and DEVELOP A RHYTHM!!!! Stop substituting every 5 f.cling seconds, let the guys play and get into the game before you yank them right out.
Ehhhhh, who am I kidding, we ALL know exactly what Blaine is going to do and that is cost us ballgames like he did against ucf by subbing out painter for wright.

You're probably right. But I bet 5-10 mins per game would move him up the learning curve quickly while giving Painter that additional big out there so he can move his game around a little more. I think a night like tonight at that atmosphere in Charleston would be great for the kid. Who knows? I sure don't. But whatever it is, the current project ain't working.
Wonder what Bobby would do if the football team were 1-many. Probably would've yanked a redshirt off somebody by now. Just my take. Totally irrelevant. But anyway...
Free Anachebe.
And go add another raw big or two next year. Lol.

Play the best 7 guys and let the people who don't contribute sit on the bench. There's zero accountability or deterrent for poor play when someone is nearly guaranteed to immediately play 90 seconds after being subbed out.
I'd actually be excited if he just played 5 guys for 40 minutes and let them figure it out.

RE: MBB Game 11: College of Charleston (ESPN3)
Prediction:
Palmore - Actually shoots some threes, makes at least 66% of them. Is once again an assist and rebound monster.
Painter - Doesn't find himself much in the paint. Shoots jump shots and at least one 3 (50% of making said 3). More or less feeds it to our guards.
Ross - CASTLESS is my guess. And 2 dunks. Shattered Backboard? I think yes.
Anton - Helpful. Continues his improvement, makes a three and stuffs some poor Cougar.
Bacote - Spurred on by his performance against UCF, scores 15+ points. If he gets below 10 points, Clark will make up the difference and then some.
Clark - Might depend on how on fire Bacote is. Will see good minutes and will show good work. 8 points probable. I'm hoping either he or Bacote become our new 'star' player. Both have the potential.
Batten - I don't know. Hasn't seem to of had the same fire as last year. Hope he breaks his Sophomore slump tonight, but not too hopeful.
Wright - Meh.
McEwen - Unfortunately for him, doesn't get a minute.
Hill - Scores decently and doesn't try to be a one man show. Nothing too flashy, just plays solid.
Final score of 74 - 69
ESPN3 commentators once again lavish CoC with tongue-baths, and are continually surprised at how well Old Dominion can play.

Razor.
I'll take a bet. How about if ODU wins you stop posting about Blaine until March? If they lose you pick my avatar until March (within reason). Deal?
