Appears Monken Has Chosen his DC
Per Football Scoop:

Southern Miss: North Carolina outside linebackers / special teams coordinator David Duggan plans to join Todd Monken's staff as defensive coordinator. Duggan was co-defensive coordinator at Southern Miss under Larry Fedora.

What did you think of him when he was there before?

Great hire! Duggan was CO-DC with Dan Disch in 2011 when we went 12-2 and won CUSA, also coached linebackers too. Duggan is a relentless recruiter and he's got a lot of coaching experience. I think he was head-coach of one of the NFL-Europe teams a few years ago...

I'm not ecstatic, but I don't think Monken could have done better.

Rebuilding this defense is going to be a daunting task.

We are dng lucky, a guy with his background who wanted to come back. Duggan was a huge part of turning or d around a year ago and getting us to 12 wins.

His family had not moved to north carolina and wanted to stay here. Sometimes, these small markets pay off
eaglenjxn is dead on we could not have made a better hire

The possibility that Anderson could bring him in as his DC was the reason I wanted Anderson. Duggan is a top notch DC and I didn't know it was the town and job he wanted, not the coach he wanted to work for. Very glad Monken talked to him and hired him!

thats the same reason i wanted blake. i was being told duggan, kap and deke would follow him back. Deke's family didnt want to move last year.
I looked at monken as the one on the list we couldnt get. So this has turned out to be one hell of a hire to me. I think we are putting together the best staff of assts we have ever had.

Now we gotta hit a hr with the s and c slot.

That's funny because in Memphis, he reportedly had a thing for high-end wines and golf............and co-eds.

His ex-wife still lives in my neighborhood, I could go ask her.

Right now I'm happy if it comes true.

I know USM has had an opening for a SC coach for awhile now.

Unless we have a brain fart and pass over them for some coach is older than the program itself.

Why am I not surprised that you aren't ecstatic about this hire...the question is why aren't you ecstatic?
This is a great hire for us! Those who were involved with the program last year said he was the one who actually put the plan together to improve the Defense. Disch was merely the face-man and worked the sidelines. This guy was a D-Coord. and HC in the NFL-Europe. He is very familiar with our program after coaching there for 4 years, and is very familiar with a majority of our players.

The wine thing is for polite company. For the drive home, Icehouse does just fine.

But 5PM? That seems a little early in light of his paycheck.
