Columbus St looking to DI

COlumbus State may be looking to the ASun for a spot in DI.

If it adds football now, it would probably look to DII's Gulf South.

Columbus is right in the A-Sun's wheelhouse. If they start losing some of its northern schools (which, if you believe the rumors, could be happening very shortly), CSU would be a good option for replacing them, one that's much closer to the core of the conference - Florida.

Perfect for them, unless they do add football. At that point they'd better beg the Big South if they move up.
Remember, you can't be Division II in football and Division I in everything else.

I'd be more interested in Augusta Georgia Regents. (Dear God that is a stupid name)

Agree that Georgia Regents would be a better choice.

Could see all of Georgia Regents, Valdosta State, West Georgia, Columbus St, and North Georgia moving to DI in the intermediate term. The football schools would not be A Sun candidates, but Kennesaw St is probably gone soon, as well as possibly ETSU.

Right now the names in the A-Sun area that want to move up are Columbus St., Georgia Regents, N.Alabama(has fb), W.Georgia(has fb). Did Nova Southeastern and W.Florida back down from wanting to be D-I?

Sounds like Regent University (VA) is going to sue them if they go through w/ Georgia Regents
