I don't know how much $400k in 1887 would be worth in 2012, but it was a huge amount of money.
Got curious and played around with several online inflation calculators--it'd be about eight or million dollars. Plenty of money to get a college named after you in the 1880s.
Assuming a 3% inflation rate since the 1880s (using a future value calculation), the 400k investment is worth $16,095,818.99 in 2012. I couldn't find data back to 1880, but since 1914, the United States Inflation Rate averaged 3.36 Percent, which would have the 400k investment worth $24,895,598.58.

June 30, 2015.
I'm thinking 6/30/14 is more likely, but who knows.
There are so many logistical and legal issues to work out -- somebody has posted a list of them on the Realignment board and the Big East board. There just doesn't seem any way for all that to be worked out in the next 6 months, so you're probably looking at 6/30/14 at the earliest. Then the question becomes if you can work out all those issues in 18 months. Even that is not a given, but I think it is the most likely result.
2015 is the published departure date.
....and since the first date given in a fluid and somewhat unprecedented situation is clearly set in stone...

Can you imagine all the school name threads if Tulane was still a University of Louisiana?

Tulane gave it's blessing to the name back in 1984.

Anyone think this shift has delayed the Belt in extending invitations?

I'm sure no one else wants to pull a Tulane and destroy their conference by picking up anyone out of desperation, no offense to App State, I would love to have them in the belt.

None taken. It seems though that it is evitable that members will need to be added at some point. By waiting the make the announcement it is hurting the programs that would be added. We are in prime recruiting season in about three weeks and those programs would have a leg up if they could say (with proof) they will be an FBS program by X date. I know that App has a handful of guys that are willing to sign with us over other FBS programs if we announce prior to signing day.

Maybe the current Sun Belt programs are doing it on purpose to give themselves a leg-up on you....

It is all a plot to give those teams that joined CUSA a chance to get ahead of App because they know they couldn't otherwise

Yep, that one extra class is going to make all the difference....
But seriously, until the nBE football schools negotiate their tv contract the conferences are all in a holding pattern.

The nBE isn't going to renegotiate for a while, because no one likes the number they are getting. They will keep adding parts until they either give up and agree to a low number (compared to the offer ESPN gave them before all the defections), or they will just say screw it and Boise will takes it's ball and go home.
