I wouldn't be shocked if they finish outside the top 4 in the ACC.

And I don't mean to diminish the solid play by the Pirates today by saying that, it would have been a great win even if UNC is a bit down this year and would have been GREAT for perception of the ECU program in the state.

Yeah this is the worst UNC team in several years. They'll still make the tournament, but nowhere near a national title contender.

I couldn't remember what year that was they went to the NIT. I thought it was a little longer ago than that.

It had to be 2010 because they had just gotten Henson and Strickland, while Deon Thompson was still there.

Lost to Dayton in the Championship game of the NIT in 2010.

Here's the way I see it. For the first time in almost eternity, ECU basketball was on a somewhat national stage and we didn't look horrible. I'll take the moral victory and I sure hope that our players build on that with a crapton of real victories.

Last season twice on CBS college sports. @Memphis in regular season contest (Pete Gillen with the call); and in the CUSA tournament against Southern Miss with Wally World making the call.

Playing Memphis in the semi's of the conference tourny after upsetting the #1 seed was a much bigger stage than a mid December game with a down UNC team. It was a stupid question to begin with. You act like ESPNU is the **** or something.

SJ There is no way that is a bigger stage than a nationally televised game against an annual Top 10 team from the ACC.

No, it wasn't. Why you ask? The timing of the game for one, the network that it was on for two, the national perception of the conference for three, and the overall national perception of our opponent for four.

Good thing it was an exhibition and they didn't schedule it as a regular season game, like well, some programs would.

All I know is St. Leo's beat the same Miami team that beat you by 32 points. Insert 49er logic of one game makes a season and 49er math that it makes them better or something and fill in the rest of the blanks next time you want to knock us for D2's or a game we don't show up for.

In the words of former FB coach Steve Logan, "There's now a duty to win", especially during Christmas time. Remember when we beat State? We went right back out on the 22nd and lost to UNCW and NAIA Lee. We can't just beat Gardner Webb, it has to be a real takedown.
