RE: UAB Basketball Recruiting Class ranked 32nd Nationally by Hoop Scoop
I don't know that its "crucial" to sign an outstanding 2014 class, but based on what I have seen thus far, I'll be disappointed if we don't have a very solid class.
At the risk of pointing out the obvious, Haase does things very differently from how Mike Davis did them.

You mean recruiting ISN'T about waiting around for the scraps at the end? Dang...

It may be nice to get used to doing recruiting like they do it at Duke, UNC and other such schools. Patch-work quilts from leftover scraps are nice to look at, but they are not good patterns for building successful sports teams.

It's nice to be recognized, but have you guys looked at how he did the rankings or at the teams directly above us?

Yeah, looks like we have one top 100 player, 2 top 300 players and 2 top 1,000 players
We've got an average player talent rating of 2.8 (out of 10....but a perfect ten would require a class of only top 10 nationally ranked recruits)
There are some teams like South Alabama and MTSU ranked ahead of us. And we've actually fallen to 38 now, and probably will fall even more, the initial high rating had a lot to do with filling out the class early as a lot of teams below us still have only 2 or 3 signed so far.
However, it is good press....and that's a great thing for UAB

I think that's out of 5 as in a "5-star player"...

RE: UAB Basketball Recruiting Class ranked 32nd Nationally by Hoop Scoop
According to the site's rating index they award 10 points for players ranked 1-10, 8 points ranked 11-40, 6 points 41-70, 4 points 71-100, 3 points 101-300, 2 points 301-1000 and 1 point for unrated players.
We were given a total of 14 points. 4, 3, 3, 2, 2 as far as individual rankings. 14 divided by 5 players gives the average of 2.8 where they come up with their talent rating.
So by the points they have given us per player you can see where each of them ranked. 1 player in top 100, 2 in top 300 and 2 in top 1000.
Unfortunately for us, it is a 2.8 out of a possible (however, unlikely for anyone) 10.
Kentucky is number 1 and has a talent rating of over 7
