I owe a big thank you to Blaine Taylor for benching painter for the last minute and a half and playing Nick freaking wright down the stretch.

Wright single handedly won me my bet tonight.

Felt terrible for bacote though, he played a hell of a first 30 minutes.....so of course Blaine froze him for the last 10 though.

More coaching genius from the Master, THAT'S why I've bet against odu twice for the first time ever.......I'd never bet against warriors like finney, hassell, baze, drew, vv, loughton, lee, hunter, hell even guys like Brandon Johnson and Henderson gave us a chance to win every night and I would never think of going against them.

But when I get Blaine and 25 to 30 minutes of Nick wright and 10-15 of larsen, and then he makes genius moves like benching painter for crunch time, well, how can you NOT take the money???

Batten rots on the bench yet again, and for the 3rd straight game, has been completely lost in the spot minutes he has played. Thank you Blaine Taylor for ruining yet another guard.

It's like clockwork.

Let's just get Blaine out of town before he ruins bacote and clark who both looked very promising to me tonight.

We played a great game today. In my opinion, a couple freshman mistakes, a couple bad passes, and LOTS of crappy calls by the refs tonight. We were right in this game against a good team. We showed improvement yet again. Great hustle by the guys tonight. I liked what I saw, despite the loss.

Also, EverRespect, please consider shrinking down your sig. It's really big, and annoying to scroll past when you post a sentence or two at a time lol

I always turn off sig view, in options. It makes reading much more pleasant. 04-cheers

Go to user CP at the top, then "edit options" below the Profile section, and the uncheck view signatures under thread view options on the right.

He's only capable of throwing an overhead pass even when a simple chest pass would have been a breakaway dunk. Heck even rolling it bowling style would have worked.

I'm not interested in turning off all signatures, but I appreciate the help. I like sigs because they say a lot about someone, helps me to interpret their posts. Thanks anyway 04-cheers

Said it once, and I'll say it again. Wouldn't blame Batten for a minute if he transferred.

Taylor keeps Nick "The Dumpster Fire" Wright in the game all that time and guys like Batten are literally rotting by the minute on the bench.

Great game? In relation to what? The Richmond game? VCU game? Towson's play last year?

I'm confused... enjoy your winnings!

he did coach them, poorly I might add. Those guys were just flat out warriors who refused to lose.

Do you honestly think our incredible offensive rebounding stats were because Blaine taught offensive rebounding extremely well as a strategy or did we just have some warriors who refused to lose and take no for an answer and fought and scrapped for everything???? Hmmm......

Either we strategically tried to go after offensive rebounds as a gameplan OR......blaines crummy offensive stratagies lead to opportunity after opportunity to grabbed missed shots off our initial offense (which Blaine IS/WAS responsible for) and we simply had warriors who fought and scrapped for every loose ball they could get.

But giving Blaine credit for "coaching" finney and hassel's toughness and fight is absurd, those kids came into this program with that fire.....Blaine's crummy offense just lead to plenty of missed shots for them to grab with that toughness.

I didn't bet against odu back then because of our players toughness and heart, not because of Blaine taylors freaking coaching stratagies. Now? I have no problem betting against Blaine taylors crummy coaching AND guys like wright and larsen out there, stinking the joint out.

I can't wait til we get a new coach in who can take advantage of a new group of players we have with a ton of heart, guys like bacote and Ross, among others, who I think have a ton of potential. This team isn't as bad as it's 1-9 record.....they are just young and poorly coached.

They finally started pressing teams, which they should have been doing all season. If they'd done that to vmi or holy cross from the start of the game, we might have two more wins right now.

Whatever, as long as Blaine is gone, I'm not stressing.

It's hard to watch that basketball team. There's no talent on the floor. The team is small and not very athletic. They hardly get in the lane and when they do they get lost and turn it over or miss. I'm not excited about one player on the team.

RE: Central florida
In my opinion they played their best game of the year last night but in your gut you just knew it wasn't going to be good enough. BT has managed to assemble a team with such unremarkable talent that it would take a spectacular effort for them to just get a W. I don't think he's such a horrible bench or X&O's coach as some have opined here. But his ability to identify and attract telent is very poor. Our lone senior who's supposed to be leading the team (Wright) is not even a division 1 BB player. I'm afraid things are just going to get uglier later in the year when the players stop trying so hard and just "play out the string".

Why was Nick Wright in at the end? That roll the ball inbound at the end right into another player. Missing the fast break at the end of the game. The fouls. Horrible rebounding. At least he hit some free throws at the end.

Painter and Batten on the bench and Wright in the game at the end? A real head scratcher allright. I watched Bacote and Palmore make great drives and lay ups in the summer league. Where has that gone? They can't even make uncontested lay ups now. One thing I have learned is I am no judge of talent. From now on I won't say a word about how kids look during the summer. I haven't seen Palmore even attempt a 3, has he? Another thing, Donte is Not a point guard.

It hurts to see Palmore try that floater. He needs to focus on his passing off that drive or getting open for a jump shot.

You know the funny thing on all this is that Nick was a 2 star recruit and was actually rated higher than Cooper...go figure! Nick wasn't a reach recruit but he never really panned out and I guess you could say that Frank was the opposite. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. It going to be intersting to see how Wood is going to handle this...

Sorry, but if you don't think Blaine had anything to do with that, you don't know much about Basketball.

Simply put, YES, ODU did gameplan for guys to be in position to gobble up those offensive rebounds, it's been talked about on all the ODU message boards in the past.

By all means though, keep on beating your dead horse. And feel free to continue to NOT show the team you're a supposed fan of any support whatsoever. I'm not real happy about what's going on either, but you'll never see me betting against ODU.

Agree on the comments of Palmore's floater - makes Darius James' floaters of the past look like good decisions in comparison...yikes.

Loved the effort by Bacote.

I'll root for these guys as long as they do not start mailing it in, like they did vs Richmond.

Liked the press. Still befuddled by BT's lineups, particularly at crunch time, but I have been confused about his rotations since his arrival.

If McEwen can play and improve, and/or Larsen can be evaluated to be viable/unviable for next year, then I personally would prefer to see those two develop vice watching another missed layup or turnover by Nick Wright. That fake three, drag the foot travel charge occurs every game, has for many years, and has never been corrected. Enough is enough.

Not like we are playing after the schedule runs of of games.

To be fair Palmore's floater were falling for about the first 6 games of the season. There is something Blaine does that destroys shooting efficiency. It is quite phenomenal.
