Was including UTEP accurate or necessary? Especially as you were talking hoops.

It's accurate.

I don't expect much from you specifically but the average fan was mentioned in that quote. The average fan does not hold Memphis in the same regard as UCONN. Maybe Cincinatti. Maybe. UTEP and Temple would on a similar step to the average fan. No disrespect to USM but UTEP is a little more respected in hoops.

No need to puff out our chests though. We might all end up in a conference together again.

UTEP is very well-regarded in hoops. Being out west is just the kiss of death these days.

No, I'm also tired of seeing endless threads about the Big East. Those who left are only going to continue to pimp it, and those who are left are going to continue to rip it. Every thread's the same.

What I find funny is Memphis keeps putting down CUSA and how low tier it is...But you seem to forget you WERE one of the bottom dwellers in the league

tell me..how many times did the tigers play for a CUSA football championship?
or even got close?

Please..it makes you look very stupid to be talking down to anyone in CUSA when YOU were one of the reasons so many teams departed the league in the first place..

If you think my response to the OP is stupid that's your opinion.

Im not attacking CUSA, as much as defending our AD's decision, which was the right one by the way. One that USM's or UAB's AD would make as well.

Oh....almost forgot 0-12. 04-cheers

1 losing season in 19 years....guess that would seem like an insult..if it wasnt coming from a fan of a team that had only 7 winning seasons during that same time period...

the important number of course is...40-22-1......we could have 10 straight 0-12 seasons and you still wouldnt break even with us...

Your feelings are stuck out dude (understandably). You started the smack. Dont get hissy b/c I brought a little back. I actually hope the best for USM, but that doesn't change the fact that our AD made the correct decision regarding our move to the BE, hence my response to the OP.

And it wasnt just a losing season. Y'all went 0'fer. Which is something even our worst teams avoided. Congrats! 04-cheers

What smack did I start? You guys act like you are way above the rest of CUSA now..yet the fact is you were in the same spot if not worse than some of these teams coming in your entire time here...whether he made the correct decision is still to be determined...no tv contract..no solidarity..hell it could end up with the NBE having no bowl tie-ins or even worse..memphis was added as an attempt to pacify the BBall schools and they didnt want anything to do with you.

and yea we went 0-12...heck there are plenty of schools that have went ofer in their history..even the mighty crimson tide...we just went almost a 100 years between our 0fer seasons....and we fired the problem asap, because at USM Losing is not acceptable...

Wow, I don't understand the original post or half of those that followed it.

However, I don't carry hate around in my heart and struggle understanding folks that do ... if that was the intent of this thread.

If this is regarding realignment, what's the current Memphis AD got to do with anything?

RE: To the Memphis AD...........
You can laugh at Memphis if you want to, but our decision was made before the offer came. Once Houston, SMU, and UCF left, there was no way we would turn down an invite. If those 3 had rejected the offer, or we had been first to be invited in this round, then you would have more of a point.

In fact, if Memphis had stayed in C-USA it would have been unprecedented, as every other school ever invited to leave C-USA for the Big East or the A-10 has accepted. THAT would have been laughable.

The part where you called me stupid and inferred that I talked down CUSA, which I did not.

My point. Memphis is in a better position today than, if they had not accepted the BE invitation. If offered USM would accept as well, even in the current landscape.

Wish USM the best. I'm out.

I love being called a bottom dweller when, in the current incarnation of CUSA (since 2005) our series record with USM is tied at four wins each.In the same time period, USM has beaten Memphis in basketball once to 15 losses....

? I don't get this. Who left? Houston, SMU? So, they left because we weren't very good? Not for the thought of untold riches, right?

I respect USM and their football tradition. But,you are talking out your ear with this type of drivel.

This has got to be the most over used statement in the history of realignment. Please give it a rest.

show me a CUSA school that hasn't taken the opportunity when given the chance, or admit it's a salient point when discussing expansion.

Yep, a league with Boise, Houston, UConn, Cincinnati, Temple, SDSU.....clearly we're in the Sunbelt, now...

Yeah when I think power football I instantly think UConn SDSU and Temple. Admit it, all those years you guys kept saying it was because of the basketball that you wanted to leave. Whats hilarious is that the Basketball left you.

UConn, Cincy, Temple? pretty good hoops right there....
