1. Strong arm. He can make all the throws
2. Quick release
3. Very accurate -- low interception rate with almost 70% completion rate with a good number of the 30% misses being throw aways or drops
4. Extends plays -- moves well in the pocket
5. Smart -- studies hard and works at his trade
6. Can run effectively, but looks for the pass first
7. Football smart -- uncany ability to feel pressure and see the field
8. Very competitive
9. Has "it" -- whatever "it" is, he has it
10. He's a winner

As i read your post I had what can only be described as an epiphany.
I am going to show my age, and most here won't really understand what I am referring to, but;

This kid is, in almost all respects, a perfect clone of Navy's and Dallas' Roger Staubach.

As a Texan from the Dallas area and a long time Cowboy fan, I feel especially qualified to comment having watched almost every game that Staubach played as a Cowboy. You are absolutely correct, and I came to that conclusion myself about two months ago.

I look forward to being able to watch him for two more years before he goes pro, and I am confident at this point that he will be drafted. How early he is drafted will depend on his performance over the next two years.

True. NFL success comes between the ears and through work ethic. Heinicke will not be a scrambling NFL QB. He can use his legs to buy an extra second, but he is not Mike Vick or RG3. Just simply not quick enough. The question will be, within that extra second, can he keep his eyes downfield, know where to look, make a good decision, and have the balls to take a shot from a 300 pounder running at him at full speed and deliver an accurate pass. Very few that are TH's size have that dynamic. Drew Brees is really the only one in the NFL right now.

I think he can do it and he will get a shot, but I wouldn't expect him to be drafted in the first 3 rounds.

As a Seahawks fan, I think he is more like a Russell Wilson, but maybe not quite as quick. Wilson's big knock has also been about his size, but like Taylor, Wilson has it between the ears, can throw and shows great leadership. He's doing pretty well for the Seahawks throwing the ball, but isn't racking up ridiculous stats. He did have monster stats when he was in college at NCState and Wiscconsin. I think TH can be a Russell Wilson type QB for the right coach and the right team.

He's short. But so is Drew Brees.

It's a good thing he is short. Otherwise he would probably be playing BCS ball right now.

RE: Your QB?
I see him as a lot more like Russell Wilson than Roger the Dodger. Staubach was one of the toughest dudes to play in the NFL, at any position. Hits bounced off him regularly as his balance and strength was superb. We don't want TH hit like that at all in CUSA. But I do see the similarities in what happens when plays break down. TH has great speed and gets (or throws) up the field in a hurry. So if you think he's a clone of Staubach, he is not only going to play on Sundays, he will be a HOF'er.

Sounds good to me...
