If the basketball schools take the Big East name with them, there is no conference to go to. You could try creating a new conference with the Big East football leftovers but NCAA doesn't have to give you an autobid for basketball or change bowl bid rules to add you.

Lets hope Tulsa, USM, Rice, UTEP, UAB, and Marshall are tied at the hip. Probably not but it would be really nice to see us stand by each other.
