Currently, this leaves nBE with 12 teams. I would like to see:

(1) MWC convinces Boise and SDSU to come back, and adds UTEP. This convinces BYU to join again for all sports, making MWC strong 14-team western league.

(2) nBE remnants form new conference by adding C*USA remnants UAB, USM, Marshall, Rice, Tulsa, and one TBD team (such as Old Dominion, La Tech, MT, etc). Good 16-team all-sports league, and will still operate at 14 if/when Cincy and UConn get called up.

The only problem is that it's my understanding that the Catholic schools get to take the Big East name and autobid, so forming this new league wouldn't be eligible for an autobid. Damn you Banowsky for reacting too quickly! And damn you defectors for not riding this out!

A new league with Cincy, UCONN, Temple, Memphis and others wouldn't need a basketball autobid.

Until a team won the conference tourney & was left out.

Ones against...it was strength in numbers. But unfortunately the $$$ numbers looked good at the time.

And I can't rightfully blame the C-USA commish or AD's. They may have had an idea it might happen, but hell we thought we had a stadium in hand too. So they did what was in the best interest of the league at the time.
I do think they hurried too quick adding the florida schools. Nothing against them.

That looks like a best case scenario for UAB. I hope that the long-term relationship that UAB has had with many of these schools can help at the presidential level. Just about the worst possible time to be without a permanent president. It's like this every F'N time there is opportunity in the air for us. The BOT finds some bullsh*t to hamstring UAB with.

You know what, that is some amazing thought. uat got a president in had with no turn around tiem. It takes 2 to 3 months and counting to get us "the right person". smh GO IRISH

& their previous president got kicked out by the machine.

I'm out of town and replying on my phone or I'd go back and get the quotes. It wasn't 2 months ago everyone was complaining that the ua hire was too quick and the BOT botched it. You people are nuts

If we had a board of trustees that backed UAB, it wouldn't be a problem whether or not we have a president. Someone on the BoT would go out to bat for us with the full support of the BoT...

We don't. So we're screwed.
