I agree, and that isn't a shot at ECU. If it was Charlotte and we had to send basketball and olympic sports to CAA, Big South, etc, we'd be livid about it.

No, ESPN is trying to get them to woo the C-7. Come on, they did it to us in 2005, call C-USA......C-DOA to keep the contract down and drive away other bids. As much as ESPN is bashing nBE, they still want to inventory, but they want it as cheap as possible and don't want to bid against NBC and others or share the contract. If they can influeance a split, they can devalue the FB schools and seprate out the BB schools and offer them the best non-FBS deal out there, but that still would be much, 2 million tops, if that.

So you legitimately think if A10 wasn't going after catholic bball schools, ECU would have a shot there? You don't excel in their flagship sport and you wouldn't bring market either to help a TV deal.

RE: ECU other sports
How did a horrible Tulane get an all sports invite and ECU gets the shaft? It does not make sense. How does a team that plays in a high school gym play bb in the mighty BE? All this makes absolutely no sense at all. I just don't see how something put together with such mismatched poorly thought out parts can survive, especially if the tv money is not there in the amount they were touting earlier.
Believe me, I'm not bitter. I think in the long run USM will be just fine. Just have a hard time understanding all of the running here and there for the possibility of another small dollar.

It really doesn't matter. I'll use the same arguement I used with Houston and SMU. If you think those schools are going to be there to play Tulane, then you would be dreaming. No way Nova, Seaton Hall, Providence and the others will want to play a team with an RPI of 180 or more in an arena that holds 3K and will have 1000 people in it. Its just not going to happen.

RE: ECU other sports
It has been a couple of weeks since the announcement and we are not going until 2014. There is no need or even an expectation of an announcement now.

But I also have no doubt that 1) Our AD and administration did not forget we have other sports and 2)We probably already know where we are going.

I wonder what Billy Godwin thinks about leaving C-USA and going to the Big South or CAA?

Doesn't really look like it's going to matter either way, but LeClair managed just fine in the CAA. We'd be fine considering our facilities now are not even comparable to what they were in the late 90's early 00's.
