Quote:CBSSports.com reported last week that a Big East contract could be worth as little as $60 million per year. Industry sources are saying now that number could be as low as $40 million per year. If that's the case, that's an average of $1.85 million per year per school. Seventy percent of that number would be football revenue, or $1.29 million. The Mountain West currently pays between $2 million-$3 million per year to its schools, according to sources.
Boise already gets 2-3 million a year. What is the incentive to leave now?
Why should SDSU leave? Why should they leave, take a pay cut, then spend more on travel? Not to mention basketball will go from playing a MWC schedule to Cal St Northridges of the world.
That pot of gold everybody thought at the end of the rainbow is simply not there. Just a big ass pissed off ugly leprechaun.
Some of you remaining CUSA members suffer from severe ***** envy.
At the end of the day nBE is still a stronger conference with better revenue than CUSA. Any of the remaining CUSA members would give their left XXX to join the NBE. If CUSA's future is so bright, why are current schools trying to join nBE?
In the end, all are equal in regard to the new bowl system.
No one here is touting how good C-USA is, we are just defending attacks by the defectors. C-USA teams trying to go to BE are doing so because its a small step up. But the BE that teams left CUSA for is no where near the BE that they will actually play in. Better that CUSA? arguably so, but not by much, esp if the hoops team take their ball and run. As a UAB fan, we have been a bball school, and playing in the league with Georgetown, providence, etc was the biggest draw for us. But since they are on the way out, I'm not that disappointed that we didn't get the invite.
