Question for golfers and Florida folks
My son is going to school in FL and my brother lives south of Tampa. I got them both gift cards to play TPC Sawgrass in Jacksonville (famous for the island green).

I may or may not play it depending on how things are progressing health wise. Worst case I'll fly down and ride around in the cart as long as they dont make me pay a green fee as well.

Has anyone ever played it? Is it worth the coin? Is it heavily booked?

Played several years ago. Worth every penny. I also enjoyed playing the TPC at Lutz (Tampa). These courses, for me, are like Michigan's Acadia Bluffs, once in a lifetime. Call ahead and explain your health concerns. Most likely they'll cut you a deal on riding with the golfer's.

I golfed there five years ago. Awesome place. Didn't record the score and I took a drop on the island, hitting 5 from the circle.

What's the traffic like on the course? I like to savor some holes when I play these kinds of courses. Snap some pics, maybe play several balls on the island green (probably have to :domokun:). I prefer not to have three foursomes on every hole (tee, fairway, green).

They have a great deal. For every 100 bucks in gift cards you buy you get $20 more in cards. I bought $400 worth, got 80 bucks in bonus cards. A round is $192.

They don't rush you on a weekday. The Marshall's are great, I hope that you can golf it, really.

I played a few holes with my brother in August. I'd lost a ton of distance off the tee. I normally hit a 58 degree wedge at a 100 yards. I was hitting an 8 iron. This procedure saps your strength and energy. It's starting to come back, but it's a slow process. Right now I couldn't restrain a kindergartner. On the bright side, I lost 35 pounds and am at my ideal weight. Wouldn't recommend this diet though 03-weeping

How much of that is strength or you not striking the ball as clean? Prolly some of both. Maybe play the old man game like that younger guy golfing with the seniors a few years back if you can, just have fun there. Love that, "After golfing with these raisens I figured out how to play it"

muscle memory, not playing, and sheer loss of muscle in your legs and arms. Contrary to popular belief steroids eat muscle tissue if your not pounding weights. They ween you off them. I have been off them for a month after being on them for six months.
