Talk about blowing your load early...
The idiots in Irving ruined any chance of getting this conference back.

We couldve just chilled added La Tech and ODU held at 8 teams. Let this play out. The Sun Belt teams were always going to be there. No one was going to take them...why bc they are sun belt teams.

Now this whole BE is about to implode and your best programs are going to be without a home and you replaced them with a bunch of sun belt teams.

Way to spaz out Britt

So how long were we suppose to remain at 6 teams? That's all that would be left had we not added.

Im not worried about that. I just think it sucks that a great conference got caught in a panic and didnt think through most of the additions.

MARKETS MARKETS MARKETS. FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA.

How about good football. Good football first and the money and respect follow.

I enjoyed watching you guys last saturday. Tough loss but youve got a sick quarterback.

La Tech and ODU.

Whatever - whats done is done. It was a great conference and couldve been a great 14 team conference with ODU and La Tech.

Oh well.

I agree with you but there was no way anyone could be sure that things were going to shake out that way. They left you, you guys need to be proactive for you not hold out hope that they come back. They made their bed, they have to lay in it.

Thanks he's an amazing talent and only a Sophomore.

we needed to get back to at least twelve to fulfill contract obligations and two more were added to shield from future raids

Meh. If those teams want to play with any of these schools anymore, they'll invite you up with them.

Honestly, it seems as though this is just some schools separating themselves from the bottom dwellers. Sadly, USM is still in C-USA along with Tulsa. These are the two that make me scratch my head.

C-USA could have done the MWC merger to accomplish above. That was dropped, with the big expansion in its stead.
Banowsky wanted no part of the MWC merger (at least a 50% chance he'd lose his job) and sufficient number of members were swayed/scared by a few schools and went along with the larger expansion.
But in the end, it will probably work out. If the BE does split, the schools those BE football teams want will join them as fast as the sunbelt schools hopped to C-USA; and the ones that stay will have their regional league they voted for. It will work out.

CUSA was not a great conference. There is no one outside of conference USA that has ever uttered those words.

Geography is way too spread out for the ROI. (I feel the same way about the Big East).

The opportunity would have been for CUSA East to merge with the Belt and the west schools (sans Tulane) to merge with the MWC.

Instead, everyone is too high and mighty for that, but somehow it's OK to add schools that are IAA or not playing yet (no offense to them).

I don't think it had anything to do with high and mighty. It came down to $ and the merger would have left a lot of money on the table. As a conf I think one or the other would have had to forfeit all money coming to them so it wasn't fiscally responsible.

right? my short term memory is shot of all this stuff.

Funny I recall UCF singing a whole different tune in 03. Oh well enjoy your new confernece for as long as it lasts.

The NCAA is NOT adding any autobids out of all this realignment and they have made that clear. The homeless schools will have no choice but to work within the framework of CUSA (Eastern) and MWC (Western). Whether that remains the names of the conferences remains to be seen, but the only other options they have are storming the MAC and WAC. They won't be able to create an additional, unique FBS conference.

I don't know that the no auto bid is a huge deal, ((if)) the leftovers stayed together.

With Cincy, Uconn, Temple, and Memphis there is little chance the new conf doesn't get one or 2 in.

That being said it isn't ideal, and it is questionable if those schools would hold together for a couple of years.
