How many CUSA teams normally get into the NCAA basketball tournament?
Do you think this will change with the bigger schools leaving?

RE: How many CUSA teams normally get into the NCAA basketball tournament?
Which version? V1.0 = Usually was 4
V2.0 = 1 (Basically it was memphis)
V3.0 = 2 (with potential for 3 at any given time.. but usually )
V3.5 = ? - However, that being said we brought in what _should_ be stronger basketball teams compared to what's leaving (not counting Memphis), so I'll say the potential for 3 to 4 is there.

I think not having us around may be beneficial in that regard. We ran through CUSA like Montezuma's Revenge enough that it became easy for pundits to dismiss the rest of the league.

If Southern Miss continues to play well, and Tulsa and UAB progress under what appear to be good coaches, that will give the league UTEP, UAB, Marshall, ODU, Charlotte, MTSU and Tulsa as a good basketball core. If North Texas can progess, and any of the other newcomers can do anything, it will really help the league out.(no offense to UTSA, FAU, FIU, La Tech, or Rice, but there appears to be a gap between these teams on paper) My biggest argument against expanding the conference is the potential to water down what should be a pretty decent basketball conference.

We stuck the Bestest Ever with some of our worst RPI deadweights, which will put at least one at-large into play. But we replaced our old deadweights with some just as crapulent, so we might not be the ones to benefit.

Yeah, but losing to Memphis every year really helped our RPI

Not sure I'd put LaTech on the "No offense" list. so far, they've done fairly well (I gotta take my smack-talk today when I get to the office, cause my co-worker is a Tech fan...)

1-2 over the last few years.
NIT 2-3 max.
We have had a few stragglers hit the CIT and CBI tourneys.

RE: How many CUSA teams normally get into the NCAA basketball tournament?
I think CUSA will be a lot like the old CAA. There will be plenty of years with 1 bid, but there will occasionally be up to 3 bids.
If Tulsa and UTEP stick around, the league has many deceptively strong (historically) programs. If they leave, the league's strength will be quite bad. This is why I would have rather seen WKU added over one of the F_U's. The basketball facilities of both Florida schools are laughable with FAU's being especially bad. UTSA's basketball arena is also terrible. I know FAU has one in the works that will be similar to UCF's and supposedly UTSA has one in the works as well, but I hope these come soon.

One decent year does not make a program. They have not been a great basketball program over the past decade or so.

Looks like Charlotte is trending the correct way coming into CUSA, let's hope it is sustainable.
