If CUSA expanded to Georgia which team would we take: Ga St or Ga Southern
Georgia State is in Atlanta but Georgia Southern has been highly successful in FCS.

All of this selecting based on markets and not performance reminds me of the internet stock bubble in 2000. Back then the mindset was "Who cares about performance of the company, it is the internet and that somehow makes the company worth billions" Then it all came crashing down like a house of cards when miraculously people realized that companies are in existence to deliver results which makes money. At some point soon, people will realize that a terrible team in a large market that does not deliver it at all is merely a house of cards. We saw this year in the Sun Belt that an upset against an SEC teams delivers a lot of ESPN love and national press......and they barely scratched the surface as far as competing with the big boys.

I think Ga Southern will end up in the Sunbelt for now. But as time moves on....I do think one of them could eventually emerge into CUSA at some point down the road. Lets see how they look 7-8 years down the road from now.
I will say this....all this movement in the east could possibly lead to some type of Eastern conference at some point down the road.

That is a very good post.

See that's why I would take both.
1. You add the ATL market to your TV contract with Ga State while you add a team with success in Ga Southern
2. You just added another rivalry into the fold (and an in state one at that)
3. You bridge the Mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coast gap we've had for ages
4. We gain the entire state of Georgia AND finally gain a good majority of the eastern shore board
5. They're both better choices than NMSU

I voted Southern but I'd add Kennesaw into the fold. They would get you into Metro Atlanta without being a soulless commuter school dwarfed by Georgia Tech (let alone Georgia) that plays in a stadium they could never hope to fill. At least you could start small with them and hope to grow granted they'd have to upgrade facilities and academics.

RE: If C-USA was to expand to Georgia which team would you want? Ga State or GSU
Georgia State is very difficult for me to agree with.
What I do like about GSU is that it's a large research university in the heart of Atlanta. That is fitting for the NCUSA.
What I don't like is their football. They have just had a down right horrible start. Is there potential for them to start putting up respectable crowds in the Georgia Dome? Sure. But It's going to take a great hire, and some good leadership from their AD. I don't agree with their approach of scheduling WVU and Alabama as a start up program, I think it does more harm than good for their program. I know ODU wanted to do a series with them for our upcoming transition years (plus it would be good for recruiting), but they declined to schedule some buy-out games.
And trying to get students to games like this, is not going to give you the right kind of press you're looking for:

Again, a ton of upside and potential for GSU, but I'd like to see how they come along in the Sun Belt first.

Taking out biased votes it breaks down thus far:
0 - Ga State
4 - Ga Southern
1 - Both
5 - Neither

What division/conference is Kennesaw in?

This is breaking pretty interestingly. We appear to not mind FCS call-ups as long as they have proven it on the field but if you're a start up most people are not fond of you.

Nither.....
GA State sucks, and will continue to suck. They will never fill the Dome.
GA Southern and the triple option will not do well at the IA level. Only 3 IA programs run it, Navy, GA Tech and Air Force. And for the most part they are usually medicore at best on any given year.
Here is a novel Idea, there should be strict rules for moving up.

Yeah, Ga Tech has been to the ACC title game 2 of the last 4 years. Their offense is good, it is their defense that is terrible.

Kennesaw...
Their endowment is $25 million, their athletic department was founded in 1983 and were NAIA until about fifteen years ago. They moved from DII to the A-Sun, their MBB hasn't had a winning season since their DII national title in 2004 and they won 11 games over the past two seasons.
As far as football goes, their plan is to start their program at the FCS level in their
8,300 seat women's soccer stadium in 2014.
I repeat...

You really want to give them credit for the title game this year?

Im not getting in a shouting match with you over this. There is a reason not many run the option in IA. Even the Wildcat is going away, the Wildcat is nothing but the Winged T option.

Maybe so. I like how Nebraska abandoned the option after having probably the best team ever in 1996. They wanted to be more attractive to prospects that wanted to make it to the NFL.

Which is a legitimate concern.

I picked both schools. I think it is important for CUSA prevent the future Sun Belt growth in these markets. In addition, I like Southern from a football perspective, but I really like the fact that Georgia State has quality Phd programs and a law school in the Atlanta metro market. Also State has a quality BBall program. The second to last point is recruiting...the state of Georgia is a major recruiting hub for MT. The final point is the state of Georgia is a great place to visit.
