After watching the first half both teams stink

USM trailing La Tech 24-23 at half. Very sloppy game on both sides.

UAB up 19 at the half.

UAB is up big and will win
USM is neck and neck with La Tech but trail by 3-5 around 6 min left in game
Tulane up 2 and UTEP up 3 at their respective halves

I think your team will be okay once they get back home - college BB is tough to win on the road.

I really don't think UTEP is good right now, let's see how Tucker and Moore look against UNLV. On a good note a UTEP team who shot over 75% at the line, been a while.

It was a good day for C-USA overall with six victories and only two defeats.

I wouldn't go that far just yet. Heck, the team was dealt a brutal schedule to help balance the budget problems so 7 of our 9 games have been on the road (2 of those were neutral site). Now we have a home game next weekend followed by another 3 game road swing. That many road games will wear on a team. IN MY OPINION, the turnovers and fouls are a result of this. As well, hopefully we can get one or at least 2 wins on the next road trip and then things will be back to more of a routine.

I look at it this way... we've been in all three games at half-time, and then the "big situation" just kinda rattled the boys. Once coach gets things settled down, and helps the kids understand how to get through pressure situations, we'll be fine.

As for fouls.. let's just say "home cookin" for those two west coast road trips from the officials.. there's not much we can do about that. If the refs want to screw our team over, they're going to screw our team over.

I sat right over the USM bench so there's a few things I can say about the game last night.

First, USM needs to stop bringing their water bottles on the court during timeouts. The game was at least 20 minutes longer than it should have been because the officials kept having to wipe up the water on the floor. Also, multiple players got hurt slipping around, falling, and getting stepped on. Never seen that at a Tech game before and realized what it was once I saw their bottles tossing water on the court.


Both teams shot poorly but I'm not sure you can say the "suck." Lots of good defense on both sides of the ball and really Tech's full court press was the difference in the game. USM never found a way to really beat it and Tech got a lot of opportunistic points off of it.

I also noticed a load of smack talking going on down there, and think that this will be a great BKB rivalry in years to come.
