If they leave, who should replace....and why? Definitely not hoping or wishing this to happen, but MWC seems expansion happy.

UTEP...Texas State...future player maintaining Texas footprint. Don't see Ny sense in adding NMSU.
Tulsa...Arkansas StAte....best available school, opening new state. Great recent football.
Rice...Western Kentucky...move USM to west and restock east.

Thoughts?

Take Georgia State....Grab the Atlanta school for the TV market.

I'd want WKU.

It was always between MT and WKU for the SBC All-Sports title. Good basketball historically, and already a strong commitment to FB in their short time. And they're only 100 miles away.

I also don't think MT can come close to delivering the Nashville market and WKU can help greatly.

I don't think they can poach us, when it comes to money it won't make sense.

but WKU should be first taken, everyone else sucks at everything.

Rumors are that Chad Morris may get the Ark St job and if so, I don't see them dropping off and they should continue to be a bowl team for a few years at least. I think they would be a solid football fit but I'm not sure about basketball.

So if all three of those teams left and were replaced with the teams that were suggessted, CUSA would be looking at potential east/west divisions of:

ODU
Charlotte
MTSU
WKU
FIU
FAU

USM
UAB
North Texas
UTSA
TxSt
LaTech
ArkSt

I would rather keep the current CUSA lineup, but that list of schools would be reasonably competitive. Not sure what CUSA offices would think about them from a market standpoint.

Wow. That would be just 3 teams returning from 2012--or looked at another way--thats 11 teams that were not in the 2012 line up.

While the MWC sounds sexy for UTEP and Tulsa.... I think CUSA's footprint makes it still in a better position for bowls and tv money that the MWC just can't touch.

Ha, they have been about as competitive as you guys have been the last few years. We just got rid of a bottom feeder we don't need to add another one. Thanks but no thanks.

If Marshall and So. Miss get spilt up, even tho there really isn't any huge rivalry or history, I would want them as a built in crossover game every year. I'm not sure if they agree with it, but with potentially everyone leaving the conference except Marshall, So. Miss, and UAB i think it would be good for both schools to at least play someone their fans know.

If CUSA is going to take a Georgia college I'd rather go with Georgia Southern

I know I still wanna play Marshall every year, with all our rivals leaving I think Marshall, UAB, and Louisiana tech are crucial to giving our fans stability with rivals and teams we actually look forward to playing.

Damn it UTEP, Tulsa and Rice....stay. Without you guys it's essentially become a WAC and Sunbelt conference.

Travel in the western conference is great. TV payout is more. Likely hood of leading the conference is there. Tulsa could run the table, stronger possibility of BCS invite.

I will say one thing I like. For the first time in CUSA history it is a continous conference. Also for a few of the members the ability to establish rivalries has increased. USM and UAB are some what there. USM and La Tech could easily be there. MTSU has beaten us in a bowl so maybe there could be something there too. I was thinking to myself the other day that back when the SEC was formed that was what originally got them going, close schools playing games and eventually became rivals. Now I am not saying CUSA will ever be the SEC but familiarity breeds comptemt and its going to be a lot easier to travel to games. Especially say if we lose Tulsa and bring in A State and WKU.

I really don't see what the point in UTEP & Tulsa going to MWC accomplishes. You'd have to pay an exit fee and the tv deal isn't as great in the MWC as it is in CUSA
