Malzahn leaving could not have happened at a worst time.

No doubt...I imagine we'll see an uptick once the new coach is announced and our fans get over the Malzahn abandonment.

Our AD said we already had 9 buses sold and that they hope to have 20 filled before the game. Not to bad. Most people with family will drive the 470 miles to Detroit. WKU has 12,500 in first allotment.

I'm confused, does WKU only count attendance in BUS LOADS?

I do know that four people are going 'cause that's how many tickets I bought on Monday.

Rumor was that at least 1000 were sold (reserved) on Sunday from 1-3 pm. I am sure that didn't include the others that were reserved prior to Sunday and I have heard that the ticket office has been doing steady business.

I have my 2 reserved, hotel booked and need to get the plane ticket. Oh and I can get my fix of Johnny's Pizza!! 04-cheers

I have a friend who is a booster, so he bought quite a few tickets to the game, so hopefully we'll have good seats! Looking forward to our first bowl game!

We are approaching 18,000 with word the bowl will allot a little over 20,000. ECU. As of a few days ago is reporting 8,000 sold. Looking for over 50,000 in this game.

I hope yall end up selling every ticket they give yall like the Cajuns did, A couple hundred thousand bucks in the bank can help out an athletic budget a lot.

Didn't ULM have 53,000 for their home game against Arkansas? Surely they can sell as many to a bowl game in Shreveport. 05-stirthepot

Hey, I didn't claim anything about our attendance. I just remember all of those attendance threads and ULM leading the conference.

Which the majority of ULM people will claim is a joke. That Arkansas deal was needed when it was signed and served its purpose, but is over now.

I don't know if you saw in the thread about the open moderator position about how I'm trying not go all Walter from the Big Lebowski on some posters, but now you see why I say that.

Any fans of non-bowling teams planning on going to a bowl game? I'm sure there will be some USA and maybe Troy fans at the GoDaddy bowl; I'll be going to the Independence bowl this year.

Explains the small numbers.

Most charter motor coaches seat 44 to 56.

ASU - 2,000 tickets sold
ULM - ticket office is busy
WKU - 19 bus loads
UL - 18,000+ tickets sold

Not meant as a dig, but it is obvious why the N.O. Bowl invited UL as soon as it was available.

I think you could say the same thing about ASU and WKU if we had a game a easy 2 hours away and on a weekend and in city with the avg high temp in the mid 60s.

I honestly doubt if ULL would sell more tickets than WKU if you had a 7 hour drive the day after Christmas in a city that is known for COLD and SNOW around that time.

I'm not trying to compare WKU to ULL in fans support because we aren't there yet but give us a bowl game in Nashville or Louisville on a weekend in 72 degrees and I think we bring 20+ thousand easily.

I 100% agree with the last statement you made. You can't compare how many we'd bring to a farther bowl cause we haven't had to prove ourselves in that yet, but I do believe that WKU would also sell 20k to a closer bowl. You guys have excellent fan support.

In that case there would be more of a more tickets sold, less actual attendance thing. I strongly suggest WKU fans buy tickets even if they can't go. It's technically a donation to the athletic fund I believe anyway.

Ok Smart a$$. As I said in my post most people will be making the drive on their own, but to have 9 buses full at $150 per seat in 3 days is not bad at all and shows that we will have a very strong showing in a bowl that is 7 hrs away on the day after Christmas. Beside if they get those 20 buses filled, that would be an impressive sight when they pull into the stadium!!! I dont see any other team in the belt doing the same in this situation.
