RE: The Future Of ETSU
Let me get this straight...Noland held a news conference to say they are considering the recommendation to bring back Buc football? If ETSU keeps holding news conferences like that, pretty soon no one will show up.

RE: The Future Of ETSU
It wasn't just for that. There were other committees that presented today as well and we discussed those recommendations.

if football was athletic oxygen, 10 years without and adding, etsu would be in serious trouble right now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh wait

Not much here, but we do get confirmation that the task force recommended football. It's in the presidents hands now.

From twitter. @WHSVdstoltzfus ETSU (who JMU plays in Men's Basketball tonight) may be adding football. Good fit for CAA with College of Charleston?

Quote:East Tennessee State University will look at starting a new football program, according to the school’s president.

Beginning the process of starting a football team, establishing a dental school and creating an arts initiative were among the many recommendations for ETSU made by committees tasked with looking into the century-old school’s future.

These recommendations were announced Wednesday by ETSU President Brian Noland, who emphasized that there will be no football at the university next fall, just that the establishment of a football team has been recommended.

“As I’ve said on a number of occasions: We have no helmets, we have no shoulder pads, we have no tackling sleds, we have no field and we have no practice facility,” Noland said. “So this is starting something rather than restoring something.”

The issue of football will be explored further on campus and in the community, Noland said.

RE: The Future Of ETSU
Anyone bashing this decision is a loon. ETSU is going to move forward. Now the question has to be asked....what conference will ETSU play in? I vote for either a return to the Southern or move to the Big South. Either way ETSU should not be satisfied until it moves to a BCS conference. Think big and grow Tri Cities!

You guys are hard to please... would you rather Noland have come out and say its not going to be looked into??? I mean what do you expect him to do, come out and announce that we are bringing it back and will start playing next fall ? Its not that easy, you have to find a conference, build a stadium, recruit players...... your expectations of this guy are a little unrealistic, he cant just snap his fingers and deliver a finished product..

We're trending in the right direction folks. Excited!

The comments under the JC press article cracked me up, what idiots. They must be faculty haha. Although, there was one supporting it
