RE: FIU...Uh oh!!
Per the interview on Tim Brando show.. it sounds like the AD was just looking for a reason to get rid of Cristobal and bring in Davis (who are apparently close)

Sorry, but I know both players personally and I know what they did on their recruiting trips. The Miami "nightlife" is why they went to FIU.

The players not ever attending class is something that I can not confirm, just heard that first hand from a coach who is knowledgeable on the subject and used to coach at Miami.

Whaaaat? Something tells me in my gut this isn't onfield related. I mean I know they sucked this year, but not enough to fire him. Need more info on this for sure.

The AD says that this was the best team that MC has ever had and to only beat 1-11 Akron, FAU and transitional school S. Alabama was unacceptable. FIU had the #19 scoring defense last year and this year had one of the worst, even with 21 of the 22 members of the defense returning.

Now if FIU gets Butch Davis, a proven coach, in exchange, it will say that FIU is ready to hit C-USA full bore.

I love any administrator or fan from FIU acting like they are so above FAU that a win should be a given. 8-3 all time. That is all there is to say about it.

Stop living in the past dude.

That's what you guys are doing too. Because FIU sucked this year too.

Bottom line is your school has won 3 times in 11 meetings. You guys are way too cocky for having 2 ok years. FIU is definitely not way above FAU as some of you claim. The whole history is a better judge of the schools rather than taking your best 2 years and ignoring any of ours.

You can believe what you want, it is nice that you defend you new conference mate. But, I know more than you think about the dealing within the Sun Belt and how teams operate.

If you honestly think that MC was fired because they had a bad season your foolish.

You Marshall fans are too touchy and quick to insult.

Sorry, but the idea of Marshall locking down anything in FL recruiting is funny. Like MUteke said, you can still pull together a good squad from FL's sloppy sixteenths. I wasn't insulting Marshall as much as I was laughing and the notion of any of us locking down any fertile recruiting area.

...and that joke of a football program, who lost to UT Martin earlier, came close to beating to at your place this year and rolled your CUSA 3.0 mates to finish the season.

What are you? FAU PR? How the hell did you insert yourself and a comparison of FIU/FAU games in a conversation about the reasons for a coach getting axed?

Nothing like the anonymity of message boards to spew stories you heard while drunk at a bar. Speaking with geauxcajuns accent: "The only way we lost recruits to FIU is because they bought hoes for the recruit, because Louisiana football players never saw vaginas before they went to Florida". 03-lmfao

Oh...back on point...I just don't see where any firing/hiring decisions based on cronyism are good for the overall direction of an athletic program.

First of all you have no idea who I am, secondly your coach doesn't get fired for having a losing season right after turning down Rutgers and signing a long term extension.

I am about as close to Salman high school as you can get, and when you hear it from the horses mouth I take it as fact. You can defend MC all you want, the fact is the man was fired after being one of the most sought after coaches in the off season. But it was all because he only won 3 games this season. You are just as naive as some La Tech fans.

Almost doesn't count does it. Memphis "Almost" won a 2008 basketball title to. One they would have had to give up. Because they were cheating.

Geauxcajns: It's "Salmen" high school, and it's not close to Cajun country.

But yeah... Mario must have been dirty or he'd still have his job. CUSA 9.0 apologists just have their heads in the sand.[/align]

A weak retort, and I'm being generous.

We we dinged for using a player who was retroactively made ineligible after the season...Duke's gotten away with far worse. It's not exactly like Marshall has a clean record.

You are a fan of a joke of a program for 35 years plus. I lived in Lafayette from 1995-2006. Went to ULL for 3 years and went to only 2 sporting events. A 1997 basketball game where Marshall demolished ULL 82-51 and the Texas AM game.

You are an exception to the rule of people that live in and around Southern Louisiana, there aren't that many jerks down there.

And no Im not defending a new conference mate. I would have called you out on this even on the Sun Belt board. So run a long....

I like the ULL fans on this board. They're a nice antidote to all of the unfounded optimism spewing from the UT-whatevers and the Florida Directional Techs.

Our first year without a bowl in 10 years and winning season in 18 years. NCAA tournament in basketball. One of the best baseball programs in the conference. So no, not really. Noob.
