(Non-ACC) Arkansas hires Bret Bielema...
WOW.

Now, THAT comes out of left field.

ACC-related sidebar I:
Debbie Yow was "smart" to move so quick to hire Doeren.

ACC-related sidebar II:
How soon until we hear that Pitt's Chryst is a candidate...?

As a Pitt fan, this could be devastating. We just hired their OC last season, and Alvarez liked Paul Chryst. If Chryst leaves Pitt after one season, this program will be royaly fvcked.

Its that feeling of de je vu. Pitt really needs to open up the check book for sure.

$3.0 mil/year should keep him, I'm guessing...

Sorry to hear about this Pitt fans, if it comes to fruition. Your program deserves much better. Your fans deserve better. Does Pitt have any home grown alumni in the coaching biz, who are doing well. We are fortunate that SU has so many alumni in the biz that are starting to make names for themselves.

Also, I hope that Strong stays at the Ville, but judging by his message to the media, it doesnt look good. I thought he would be there for a little longer just to show his gratitude for getting the chance to be a head coach.

(Non-ACC) Butch Jones turns down Purdue...
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...ext-season

Quote:As for Jones' decision to turn down the Purdue offer and what this means for the Boilermakers coaching search, it's unclear where the school will turn to next. Its top two targets were Dave Doeren and Jones, and neither will be taking the job.

Interesting -- looks almost like Butch is going to stay at UC for the time being.

God willing he stays in Pittsburgh. We can't afford to lose another recruiting class and can't afford to watch another first year head coach next year. Our program already isn't great shakes but it was looking up with Chryst at the helm. It's just going to take forever to get back on track if this happens and of course I don't trust Pederson to hire another coach.

Good move by Jones. UC could be the top dog in the Big East very soon once UL, Pitt and SU leave making him attractive to an even bigger school.

to me, this would be in a lot of ways for a program like a Pittsburgh the worst year for trying to hire a coach, with so many big name schools all open....

Unfortunately at Cincinnati, our coaches have to threaten to leave before our administration will do anything. Kelly in his second year threatened to leave and got a committment to build the new indoor practice football practice facility at Cincinnati cost 13.5 million. Jones apparently wants an update to the football stadium and my guess is he may very well get it. With that a possibility, a updated basketball and continue our winning ways, we may get a good conference bid somewhere soon. Here are some pictures of what we can do at Cincinnati. Scroll over and check out the UC facility. It's great !!! My understanding is CU does not have a practice facility and needs an expensive update to it's stadium. CU also wants and promised Jones updates. We have everything but a stadium upgrade which we are close to obtaining. It's not so bad in Cincinnati, huh??

He is the leader for the Colorado job, it is expected that he'll decide sometime tonight if he is staying or going to Boulder.

Chryst can be king at Pitt if he stays. I'm very fearful that he'll end up being the next coach of the Badgers, though, and I can't blame him if he is offered and decides to leave.

I would love for the ACC to go ahead and get it over with and bring in UC and UConn to get to 16.

I also think it's a great hire for BC.
