The lesson here, is if you're a sunbelt team, you don't turn down bowls, you take what you can get regardless if your commissioner thinks he can get a better bowl for your team.

You can keep your cow's opinion, I don't agree. When you are assured by someone who you should be able to trust, you can turn down an invite.

Benson either lied to us or made a promise he was unable to keep. I'm not sure which should concern Sun Belt fans more.

That's ridiculous. Bowls are negotiated and turned down all the time. Benson by rule is/was our conferences sole negotiator. You try to polish this turd and blame it on middle if you want, I almost expect it, but you guys are the ones who will be left with the smell. Better think about flushing it.

it's not between MTST & WK, it's between MTST & CM
Why isn't MTST at St Pete [doesn't SB have secondary tie-in]
Ball St in Wash & BG in Detriot

The fact that Karl Benson could not manage to get all the SBC bowl eligible teams a bowl game, unlike the MAC commissioner, should show you that he is not fit for the position.

Yes, MT is the loser in this situation but it's only temporary. We will move on and be gone soon and have access to many bowls in CUSA. However, the big loser in this situation is the Sun Belt. You guys will continue to have Benson as your "leader" along with less money and prestige.

Ga Southern and even Ga State being "I-A" will put a dent in Middle Tennessee's Georgia recruiting. 34 members of MTSU's current roster come from our territory and the I-AA stigma will be removed.

Is it even close to official that GSU will be joining? I want them to, just asking. They and maybe app state. I don't know how they'll fare with a new coach. And for Troy fans wanting Blakeney gone, be careful what you wish for. New coach doesn't mean automatic sunbelt champs.

Unless...05-stirthepot

Yeah yeah. You realize your the exception, not the norm right? Congrats nonetheless, you guys are fun to watch and you can bet I'll be tuned in to watch you guys.

Yea I know just having some fun. 04-cheers next year is setting up to be a really good year. Our team was really young this year and most of our offense that ate everybody up this year ( oku, Hayes,McKissic, jones) will be back. Losing aplin and stockemer though is gonna hurt. If we can find a QB with our OOC games next year we have a shot at perfection. Not that I'm expecting it. Our D is gonna have to get past Troy next year.

I'm obviously making an assumption, but at this point I think the Sun Belt needs us almost as much as we need the Sun Belt. I think App St. and Ga Southern are locks and the Belt needs a couple of Western teams. I'm still being told by an administrator that WKU and stAte are CUSA-bound, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I was speaking about recruiting because there are a lot of kids within 150 miles of our school who choose SB, CUSA, and even MAC schools because they want to play "I-A". We'll get many of those kids if we want them which will impact the talent level some schools have now. Ga State will also get a share of those kids. Murfreesboro is only 3 hours from Atlanta, but so is Georgia Southern and South Georgia schools are 2 hours or more closer to Southern. Everything else being equal, Mama'a and Daddy's want Junior closer to home.

#1 I'm disappointed MTSU got left out
#2 per Adam Sparks, the ADs did not vote to send WKU to Detroit and deferred to the bowl. WKU had been working them for weeks.
#3. MTSU turned down the Military on Thursday expecting Liberty/GoDaddy to work out but Iowa State coming available killed that.
#4. You are leaving and while I'm disappointed it is getting a bit trite seeing the same glad we are out posts and trashing of the league when your administration is responsible for gambling and losing.

I can confirm that. If anything, WKU learned a valuable lesson last year about how these Bowl picks work. We got a very late start in working the Bowls last year because we didn't reach eligibility until the 11th game of the season. This year, we were on it probably after we started 3-1, if not before.

We play higher profile opponents, in higher profile places, with more bowls to go around. I guarantee you recruiting won't be an issue for us. If anything it's going to keep getting better.

oooo-kay.

who deze 'higher profile' opponents?

you'll have more bowls fo' sho'....with more folks fighting for them.

i'm just trying to figure out who all these 'higher profile' opponents are. i ask the question as a western fan who knows it's entirely possible one day we end up getting to play deze folks.

go ahead and rank them from highest profile to not highest profile please. thanks in advance.

I think it is time for the Big East CUSA and the Sun Belt to sit down negotiate a way to make all the pending moves happen effective July 1.

The BE and CUSA will have to give us some scheduling help because we will have 8 members needing a game (half home, half away) but there is nothing to be gained for Tulane & ECU to wait a year for Big East nor FAU and MTSU to wait a year for CUSA.

My point was that if Georgia Southern thinks they'll hurt our recruiting, they are quite wrong. We'll get a boost in recruiting by moving conferences due to the all important perception that we as a conference have been fighting for years.

Dear MTSU:
a whole of oddities in the bowl system.....kind of like a girl (we will call her Alice) expecting John to call her for prom....but Billy already asked, his car is not as nice, he is not cute but he is a nice guy....so she turns him down....well lo and behold that slutty little girl Nancy just throws herself at John and he is all enthralled by her having big boobs and everything and he askes her....meanwhile scrambling to save face our girl calls Billy and says.....oh after second thought I would love to go with you to prom....Billy says.....I would have liked to go with you but I asked Gertrude and she is not nearly as bitchy so I will stick with her......but have fun sitting at home....

Any ideas who Alice is?
