Places on Dauphin St. to eat:

Samurai J ($-$$) for sushi/asian (I love the owners and staff... wonderful people and excellent food every time)
Busaba ($) for Thai (place is pretty dirty, but the food is usually good)
Pita Pit ($) Chain sandwich restaurant
Cabo Cantina ($-$$) Mexican. Under new ownership, so food quality might improve. It wasn't bad to begin with.
T.P. Crockmier's ($-$$) Beautiful new home to a Mobile classic. Still relatively young in this location, but hopefully all the service bugs have been worked out. Don't order a steak from here. Stick to bar food and sandwiches.
Loda Bier Garten ($-$$) Brand new (just opened 12/31) bar/restaurant with brats and other bar food. Huge beer selection. I haven't tried the food yet.
Mediterranean Sandwich Company ($) AWESOME gyros, orzo, greek salads, etc...
Buck's Pizza ($-$$) - meh. chain pizza joint. Excellent deals if you can catch them at happy hour. food is good but not rave-worthy

No cajun food but some really good seafood at Wintzells on Dauphin Street, Felix's Fish Camp and Original Oyster House on the causeway.

Felix's is a great spot for dinner but make reservations. Original Oyster House is great for families
