Exactly. Not like they don't go to a BCS bowl game 3 out of their 4 years already, anyway.

I feel the same way, as I avoid ESPN at all costs. However, next Saturday at 12 pm EST, ODU will be on ESPN (not 2, u, or 3, or the ocho) in our playoff game against Georgia Southern. Make sure you tune in 03-wink

I will make it a point to watch our new conference brethren. Watch for the Extra Short Peenis Network to do you the ultimate indignity and give you the chick play by play announcer.

UAB was part of that verbal beatdown as well.

I know but, UAB didn't make any noise and allowed Jay Bilas to think he was right. However, VCU showed that they deserved it and kicked a lot of BCS level conference ass on their way to the final four.

Doesn't matter what UAB did or didn't do in the NCAA tournament. UAB deserved to be there by winning a regular season title in a good C-USA.

Plus dont forget we are expected to accept their "national" champion which is determined based on their weird and ever changing BCS rules yet these same rules that have NIU EARNING their spot are to be ignored.

Hyprocrisy. Though the BCS has always been that way.

Actually, they got in based on the rules. They were an automatic bid just like all of the other teams.

And the most fun is when a non-BCS bowl is going and the announcers spend a great deal of time hyping the National Championship and other BCS games coming up.

Only 35 days of promoting Alabama vs. Notre Dame to go.........

Now that we've heard this script a few times, I'm fairly sure it's just that - a script, designed to outrage non-Cartel fans and drive up their viewership. So NIU/VCU/UAB/Hawai'i etc. etc doesn't have Fla State's fan base? They do if they have ALL the peasantry behind them.

Nothing comes out of their mouths that is not designed to enrich the Mouse.

NIU did the same thing. Doesn't matter if they get blown out or not...they earned a spot in the bowl.

Ding ding ding! I was wondering how long it would take someone to recognize this...

You don't think they would find some way to manipulate things to raise the wall and make it tougher for a CUSA team to get in? I don't in any way mean to decry NIU. They are quite deserving.

But CUSA doesn't get a team in with one loss. They would be thwarted before it ever got there. They'd have to run the table...and then hope that one of the ESPN-contracted conferences doesn't have a one-loss team ahead of us...

cmon, take tinfoil hat off. NIU got in this year because the Big East and B1G champs were horrible and ranked below NIU. Its a rigged system designed to keep all of the Sisters of the Poor out of the country club. They make no deliniation between the poor.

Pretty simple. NIU didn't deserve to get in. They play no one and lost to a ****** team. LSU should be in before them (or Louisville/Wisconsin) Same for USC (The SEC one) and Oklahoma too.

I'd say George Mason in 2006 and VCU five years later were extremely lucky to get in. It just goes to show that sine teams underachieve but are good enough to compete if given a chance/second chance. Houston also benefited from this when it caught lightning in a bottle and won the C-USA Tournament in 2010. It also shows that maybe, just maybe, it is possible that player recruiting rankings aren't everything and that there are great coaches that get the most out of their teams at all levels, especially those at lower levels and teams can be greater than the sum of their parts. But we're only five years removed from App. State and Michigan, so what do I know?

Which part of NIU is quite deserving didn't you catch?

...and as to the point in bold, I'm mostly referring to the strong influence of ESPN in the perceptions (which are extremely important) of anything and everything in college athletics...especially football.

The way CUSA was treated by the de facto leader in the dissemination of sports information turned on a dime when the conference broke away from the behemoth.
