Shame on the SBC for not getting a secondary deal with the Beef O Brady ahead of the MAC. The game is in Florida, SBC territory, for goodness sakes.
Another failure by Tubby 'memorandum of understanding' Waters.

RE: No bowl for MTSU?
Benson didn't do as well as I would've liked but.
Here's what he's operating against.
1) He's new. Its not like he's had a ton of time to get new bowl agreements
2) I think that if he cant get us 3 hard slots and 1 soft (secondary) slot in the next couple of years, I'll be disappointed. 4 bids in a 8 team conference should be sufficient.
3) So long as the NCAA keeps allowing AQ teams with losing records waivers, I don't see why any bowl would give the Belt or CUSA or the MAC a primary anyway. Why should they? Unless there is some sort of penalty involved for having to go outside your contracted bowl matchups, there's not going to be a lot of incentive for the bowls to sign with any of us. CUSA included.
4) I think we should be working on bowls within our footprint. The BBVA, the Independence, the Liberty, the Beef O Brady's, the Heart of Dallas etc., should be approached. But the problem is that pick 3 from the Sun Belt is going to be a hard sell for a couple of years until we get a few more seasons like last year. It takes time.
5) Our attendence sucks. It kills us at bowl selection time. I'd pick Iowa State over any CUSA, MAC, WAC, or Belt school too.

Both Texas State and Georgia State start Sun Belt play in 2013. If MT is gone next year, there will be 9 teams in the Sun Belt; there will be 8 teams if FAU joins us.
Though I'm fairly certain that Georgia State will be in the same position USA was this year, ineligible for the championship or bowls.
Then CUSA and Sun Belt ought to get together and see about getting waivers for FCS additions if MTSU needs to leave early.
I'm not opposed to letting MUTS leave early. So long as we aren't damaged in any way.

I think he thought he had a little more pull than he really did. He pissed off GoDaddy, and thought he had a deal with Liberty. Even if he were not out to screw MT, it has to make you nervous that he makes promises and can't follow through, at the expense of a member institution's student athletes. Shaky ground.

Dude, you guys liked Tubby Waters... Benson couldn't on his worst day be half as worthless as Waters.

Let's be honest. You know why you don't like Waters, and I respect that. You know why we don't like Benson.

I agree. It's easy to write a review on amazon.com about a product you hate on how it's the worst thing you've ever purchased because you had an absolutely terrible experience with it, while most others have not had the same terrible experience and give it more stars.
Translation: Not saying Benson is the new massaih, but he's probably not as bad as MTSU fans are exaggerating him to be. Most WKU fans probably wouldn't share the same hate toward Benson because of the two separate experiences the two programs have had.
