"Let him live" Bearcat Billy!!! You know I agree. Problem with the Cbus comparison is it is captive market, there really is nothing else to talk about.

Cincy either needs to decide to have dedicated shows (which i believe they would fight for ratings purposes) or the UC fans need to take over phone lines. The biggest problem i see with that is that guys like Lance take NO CALLS and simply steer the convo in the direction they want, which is often a lot of WOWWWWW, HEE HEE, AHHHHHHHH....very annoying and pointless. Think about it...local sports is from noon till midnight in Cbus....does it get even 3 hours a day in Cincy?04-rock

Would be nice if there was a weekly local show that had a host who could name the starting linebackers are that knew that Kelce is a first round draft pick. The local media sure does love it when a coach takes another job or gets a DUI.

Doesn't mean they can't change the culture a bit down in Cincy. How many nights a week from the Holy Grail do we have to have Bengals line? Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

"We live in a culture of affirmation, not information."

Just my humble opinion but if I were in the shoes of Koch, Mo, Broo etc etc I would look at that as an opportunity and embrace it to the fullest. Because quite honestly its close to all they have left.

Local broadcast media outlets are NOT the source for inside, in-depth information and breaking news anymore when it comes to local college programs. By the time a piece of information is talked about in the broadcast media or in the enquirer it has been tipped off and hashed out on BCL, here, BCN usually for a week or two. There is absolutely no reason for us to listen or read local media regarding things UC, we have already literally written the pieces here.

So, IMO people in the mainstream print and broadcast media would be MUCH better served to abandon any pretense of traditional who, what, where, why, journalism, that ship sailed long ago. We almost always already know all that by the time they report it - all we are looking for is color, features and yeah perhaps some affinity/promotion.

And to do that you are going to have to become a FRIEND of the program.

There are mainstream guys who have transitioned to that kind of role pretty effectively. Jody Demling couldn't be much closer to UL and put out more timely info, even on recruiting topics.

I can understand guys like Ken Broo who cover EVERYTHING sportswise, perhaps not seeking that kind of special relationship and reporting style. For the guys who focus on UC or cover UC exclusively its completely asinine, IMO, to approach it any other way.

But it does seem funny to me that members of the media appear to fully acknowledge that their customers (listners/readers) are seeking something other than information. Might not be a bad idea to see how they might serve that customer interest rather than denigrating and dismissing them with a word like "affirmation".

I agree with you, these guys times have passed. But the question I ask is somewhat the reverse of yours. Why don't the Enquirer, local tv stations and radio stations go after guys like Tommy G to them to break news with instead of doing it on twitter. Any idiot can read lines off a teleprompter, but why not hire and use guys that are willing to do the dirty work to get scoops?
