So far, BE teams west of Texas are football only, b/c it is too expensive for the non-revenue sports (across the entire league), to make any of the western schools all sports.

Do you really want UNLV for football only? IF the BE evolves to a pure east and west conference, with 16 or more FB teams, and conference playoffs, then it would make sense to go all sports. But that idea is a long way from implementation, if ever.

The article was weird; lots of stuff in it that didn't make sense. Events will average 31,500 attendance, but it will have 60,000 seats. 60,000 seats makes no sense for UNLV. They are looking at an average of $140 of revenue per event ($100/ticket + $40 concessions) for 15 events, but the 6 UNLV games will probbably generate less than a quarter of that.

They've been talking about this for a few years now. I'll believe it when I see it. The Obama years have not been kind to LV. We'll see what happens.

There are other competing proposals. It's too soon to say what will happen, but this proposal is the current front runner.

UNLV's problem is academics. They simply aren't PAC 10 material. They would fit in well with CUSA, but they would be behind us in The Big East. And we are already toward the bottom.
