$2 tickets really?
Sitting here this morning and my friends are texting me - they're offering free tickets at an ACC tailgate party and 8,000 seats are available online, almost 2,000 of which are priced at $2 to $8.

What is going on with the conference and this discount of tickets? If I paid regular price through a school or the ACC and 1/5 of the stadium was free or virtually free, I'd be PISSED!

The ACC should probably reconsider the neutral site championship game and play it at the school with the best record/highest ranking.

It's because North Carolina and Miami are ineligible for the game. Georgia Tech is the third place Coastal team and is 6-6. Not exactly a great match-up.

There will be a hell of a lot more fans in Charlotte than there was at the PAC-12 Championship Game. They had a whopping 31k... on campus...

Just to clarify, the game tickets are $2 not the tailgate thing?

Yep, game tickets. This I believe is through Stubhub and secondary outlets. If you do box office, you're still paying face value.

They were selling the game tickets for $2 - the tailgate is free - they are using free tickets to encourage UNCC students and alumni and Charlotte community to come to the tailgate to have the #'s for the sponsors who paid to be a part of it.

IF you're local and an ACC fan, you have no excuse not to go. Charlotte is where this game needs to be.

+1...it is good enough for the PAC. Stanford still didn't sell out their stadium last night. It isn't just the ACC either. Ticket sales for the Big10 game tonight are not going well either.

It's tough to expect fans to travel for both this game and then the bowl game as well.

I feel ripped off knowing I paid around $20 for end zone tickets from a scalper (33% of face value) in '08 for the ACCCG in Tampa, knowing that they're going for even less in Charlotte.

RE: $2 tickets really?
a crowd in 60000 range is expected, the last 2 years sold out & pre sales this year were over 45000. it takes time to build a event that can sell out no matter what. it's still better than the 30000 that were showing up in florida the last couple of years it was there

College football seems to be becoming nothing more than television events. Why should the casual fan take an entire day or even weekend out to attend a game and spend all that money that they don't have when they can do lots of productive things (or sit on their butts and do nothing on their one or two days off) and just sit down in front of a flatscreen at home and watch the game?

RE: $2 tickets really?
they ended up closing off the upper level on the ends and all the corners were empty on all levels basically... I don't even think the crowd was the 64,000 they announced.

50K. Still better than the Pac12 and B1G championship games by quite a lot.

I believe that I read that 64k was "tickets distributed"

RE: $2 tickets really?
When the ACC renegotiates for A new contract the football schools need to put their foot down. Make sure in the new contract that the highest rated team gets to host the ACC CG. It will look better on TV with A full stadium. Plus the school will make A little more money with A extra game. It will be a incentive to play better on the field.

RE: $2 tickets really?
Lots of issues. First, ticket prices are too high. Outrageous ticket prices, not to mention the incidentals - $6 sodas and the like. Not to mention travel cost. It has to be a couple thousand dollars for a family of 4. Do you spend that money on the CCG or a bowl game? Most people I know can't afford both.
