Powers committed to the barn over the weekend. Good! I had rather have Chris Rogers anyway, he's 6'0" where Powers is 5' 9". Both run a 4.5 40.

Bama has added number 22 to the list of recruits for 2005.

Clarence Ward from Pensacola Fl (Pensacola HS) and from there the info is a little skewed. Rivals.com has him listed at 6' 1" 175lbs, 4.44/40. Scout.com has him listed as 5' 11" 175lbs, 4.64/40. He has a different 40 time at every combine, or camp he has attended. He has ran the 40 at 4.44, and he has ran it in 4.78. However, both recruiting sites agree that he's a very good catch for the Tide. Scout.com has him ranked at number 13 (4 stars) in the country, and rivals has him at number 25. (3 statrs)

Bio: Led team to state championship (16-0) as a junior and a 13-3 sophomore year. Recorded 93 tackles, 5 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries (3 defensive touchdowns) as a junior.

scouting report:Kid plays better than his forty speed indicates. Has good instincts and can break on the ball in a hurry. Projects as a free safety. Will play both FS and QB in his final season at La Marque.

His HS coach also stated that Ward is always around the ball, and he (Ward) was such an athlete, that he had to play him on both sides of the ball.

Ward chose the Tide over FSU, LSU, OU, Ole Miss, Miss St., Southern Miss, and Texas A&M. Ward was an early commit to LSU, but changed his mind recently after visiting other Universities, and moving to Florida to play his senior season.

Additional information: Ward (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) received an official offer and accepted after playing in the Emerald Coast All-Star Game on Friday night. Playing for the South team, Ward was named the defensive MVP after he had two interceptions, returning one for a 50-yard touchdown.

Chris Keys is expected to commit to Bama tonight, if he can contact a coach...."I just got off the phone with Chris Keys....he is commiting to Bama...but, has not reached the Alabama coaches as of yet. " This according to Bma Mag.

A quarterback in high school, Keyes prefers to play safety on the next level, but with his size could make a standout linebacker as well. Keyes is also a good student that should have no trouble qualifying. Last season Keys rushed for over 500 yards and 10 scores and threw for 790 yards and 7 touchdown passes. Defensively he had 57 tackles and seven interceptions. He bench presses 330 pounds, squats 500 and has a 39-inch vertical jump.
Keys: "I love to hit and I love contact. I'm real physical and I have a lot of experience. I want to get stronger and add some weight. I also want to run a faster 40."

Scouting Report:Keys has better quickness than speed and he has good speed. He shows great athletic ability with the football in his hands. He really caught my attention because you don’t expect someone this big to make the kind of plays he makes. Keys plays safety at the high school level and the first thing you notice is that he will really come up and strike you. Keys has linebacker size and that linebacker mentality but the speed of a safety. He sure covers a lot of ground once he recognizes the play. I was a little surprised at how well he “played

After announcing he would go ahead and take his visit to LSU last week, Keys has now decided to forego that visit, and says he is totally committed to the Tide.

Chris Rogers could be the next Bama commitment, and James Davis has Bama as his new leader after his official visit this week.

Jimmy Johns has committed to play football for the University Of Alabama. He is the number 18th ranked [duel threat] qb in the nation. He played his HS football at Brookhaven Mississippi. here are some of the key stats.

A top Mississippi quarterback who plays on a team loaded with top talent. Also a solid student in the classroom who will qualify academically.

Junior Stats - 86 of 160 passing for 1,443 yards and 18 touchdowns. Rushed 132 times for 820 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Junior Honors - Selected Best Offensive Player in Division 6-4A.

As a senior, Johns passed for over 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns, and he added 950 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns.

Johns could play OLB, but says he isn't interested in playing defense, so he will get a shot at qb after this coming season, with the graduation of BC, the position will be wide open. The competition will be among Johns, Wilson, Barnes, and Guillon.

Johns is 6'2.5", 225, and runs a 4.7 40 time. Johns was also Mr. Football in the state of Mississippi.

Chris Rogers is the latest commitment to the University Of Alabama football team. He is a 6' 1", 175 lb, 4.5/40 cb from Lakeland Florida. As a jr. he had 75 tackles, 18 for a loss, 2 sacks, 10 ints, and 22 pass break ups. He also caught 13 passes for 365 yards, and scored 6 TD's. His senior year was less productive, due to opponents going away from him. He still managed 131 tackles, 4 ints, and 3 pass break ups. He also caught 2 passes as a WR, for 72 yards.

Rogers is known for his hitting. He reads the field well, and comes up to make big hits on opposing rb's, and wr's. He is projected to move to safety in college.

Rogers is ranked 33 best CB by scout.com, and 52nd by rivals.com.

They all sound like good players but I don't ever count them for sure until Nat'l Signing Date...I've seen some of those that you thought for sure were in the bag go somewhere else and those you thought were lost end up signing. Good Luck to the Tide - I think Shula will get Bama back to where they want to be. (Looking for the same thing out of our new coach.)

I've fell behind here recently. Here are the latest Bama commitments.

Antonio Forbes: Forbes is a defensive end in high school, but he has the size to play defensive tackle on the college level. Forbes finished his senior season with 136 tackles, 13 sacks, and an inteception.

He is 6' 4", 265, 4.65/40. He played his HS football at Meadow Creek HS, in Norceoss Ga.

He is rated a 2 star DE by scout.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nick Kyles: One of the top wide receivers in the south, Kyles combines a natural instinct at receiver with great hands and body control with excellent size and speed.

Twin Brother Jarvis Kyles is a college prospect as well.

As a senior, Kyles had 62 catches, 1050yds and 11 touchdowns.
Kyles is considered the top WR prospect in Ga.

He comes to the Tide from Milledgeville Ga, Baldwin HS. He is 6'2" 190lbs, and runs a 4.6 40. Kyles is rated a 3 star recruit by scout.com, and 44th in the nation as a WR.

Nicks twin brother, Jarvis, committed to MSU the day before Nick committed to Bama.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike Ford: This kid is the real deal. I look forward to watching him tote the ball for us.

Mike Ford is one of the top running back prospects in Florida. Ford had a banner senior season. He was the leading rusher in the state of Florida (2,836) with thirty seven touchdowns, and was named Class 5A Player of the Year.

Scouting Report:
Everyone likes football players – guys that just know how to play and make it enjoyable when you watch them. Mike Ford is one of those guys. He never leaves the field. Whether it’s running the ball, defending the pass, or on special teams, Ford is always making plays. He averaged 120 yards a game last season and really went off on opposing defenses at the end of the season. Ford brings a lot of instincts, toughness, and competitiveness to the table. Oh, and speed too. On the track, Ford has been timed at sub 11.0 in the 100m. He’ll continue making plays this season and then someone will be getting a fast, instinctive, and productive back for the next level.

Ford comes to Tuscaloosa from Sarasota Florida, where he played his HS football at Sarasota HS. He is 6' 0", 200 lbs, and runs a 4.56 40. He is rated at 4 stars by bothe rivals, and scout.com. He is also among the top 20 at the rb position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brandon Deaderick:
A 4 star DE from Elizabethtown Kentucky. Deaderick is rated 21st at the DE position. He chose Bama over allbarn, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, and Michigan St.
6' 4" 260, not time.

Yeah Reb, you can never count em until they sign. It is rumored that we will lose Ward to FSU next week. FSU had never offered him until this past week. Supposedly, his dream is to play for Bowden. I can't say that I blame the kid, if that's what his dream is. I wish he would stay with us, as he has the potential to be a good one. However, Bama has recruited 7 DB's this year, and they will not miss him too much, if he does commit to FSU.

It looks like coach O is doing pretty well. especially coming in late in the process. I read earlier, where he pulled one of allbarn's top defensive recruits today. I think the barn will suffer the loss of chizick, as this makes two today, that has decommitted from the defensive side of the ball.

Yeah, I do too. Shula told him, that he might not have a scholship for him, if he took his visit to FSU, so I figure by that, he's a goner.

I think Shula did the right thing telling Ward that. I think Shula is trying to have exactly enough qualify to fill the 25 scholarships allowed, and he doesn't have room, nor time to wait on Ward.

Ward gone to FSU, as expected.

New recruit:
Travis Sikes out of Nashville, TN. Sikes, listed at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, hauled in 44 passes for 1,019 yards as a junior. He caught 54 balls for 948 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2004. He starred equally as a wide receiver and safety for Christ Presbyterian (1A school in TN).

Sikes is likely to be gray-shirted, but he could come in next August, depending on grade issues. He's going to start out at safety and he's a big time hitter from watching his videos. That's why I think he's rated low, as far as stars go that is, because in the database, he's listed as a WR, but he's going to be a safety at Alabama. I like him alot and his videos were very impressive for a "2 star". I've seen some 5 star videos not as good as this guy...

Nashville (TN)
Christ Presbyterian Academy

Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 190 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.5 seconds....legit time

Let's be honest with ourselves... we can only see us getting two more recruits maybe 3-4 at most:

Roy Upchurch
Colin Peek

Peek might not even choose Crimson, so I don't know what we would do for tight end, hopefully he goes to Alabama.

Fred Rouse
Bobby Greenwood

Here are two guys that could both be going to FSU, I really want Rouse, we need a big time recruit who can make the plays like he does. I have a strange feeling that Greenwood might choose FSU over the Tide, that has me sick to my stomach. (I really wanted Worthington)

Nick Walker, Charles Hoke, and ......the kid that returns from this years team...I can't think of his name right now. Anyway, that will be the three we have to work with next season. I would like to see Peek commit to Bama, but it isn't absolutely necessary.

The DLine will be our strong point next season, with Gilberry, Britt, Griffin, returning, and the additions of Fanney, Washington, and Deaderick. Not to mention the other guy's returning, that were in the rotation this year. We are FINE at DL.

Barring injury, and with the return of a healthy Darby, the rb position should be in good shape too. Darby, Johns, Glenn Coffee, Mike Ford (if he qualifies) Sharrief. Castille, and McClain at FB, with the kid that played some this season backing them up.

Both safties, and both corners return, not to mention Simeon Castille, which will win a starting job in the spring. Harper, and Peprah, with the addition of several KEY recruits at the DB position this recruiting season. Freddie Roach, Ryans, and Garth return as lb's, and will be backed by Waldrop, Stamps, and possibly Keys, if he doesn't start at safety. The D is in very good shape.

The big concern will be keeping BC well, with a new O-line. Bama returns Tatum, and Closner on the O-line, with very little experience coming in at the remaining positions.

Bama also loses PK Bostic to graduation, so that will be another concern, as will the back up qb. It could be Wilson, Gullion, or anyone else at this point.

I'm not worried about Rouse, Bama is loaded at wr, and will pick up one of the best in the country next year, from our own state, not to mention Stover will be returning from JUCO.

O-line, 2nd team qb, and special teams will be our biggest reason for concern at the beginning of next season. all of this is just my opinion.

I agree, and im not worried too much about Rouse either, but you just can't pass up a talent like Rouse. I would like to add to that running back class though, adding Upchurch makes my heart feel better. By the way Rivals.com is showing that we only have 27 commits instead of 30, why is that?

They aren't counting our gray-shirts.

I didn't mean to imply passing on Rouse. He's a very good one according to most recruiting guru's, and his vid's look good also. I simply meant, that I don't think the kid has really given us serious consideration. I could be wrong, and if he signed with us, I would be glad to have him.

I would love to have Upchurch. Have you saw any of the video's on Ford, or Coffee ? They are two very good RB's. I don't know if I've ever watched a rb on tape, that looked any better than Ford. Coffee is no slouch either. Upchurch would be icing, and would set Bama in stone at the rb position over the next 4 to 5 years.
