RE: MACC game thread
Rode up on an elevator with three MAC officials after the game at the Marriott. They said they "we're happy to get out of there alive." We said, "great game," and they said "yeah, it was well played." And then the elevator doors opened to our floor before we could complain about the block in the back and the pass interference calls!

See? I tired to point out the potential problem with refs calling us for everything....and good ol" BRAD told me to stfu.
How many penalties did Kent have called on them all game? anybody?

We not only had to beat Kent...we had to beat the damn refs too.

Great win!

But..., didn't DD learn his lesson last year against Toledo about the short kick-offs. It's death by a thousand cuts - totally stupid. Yes, our TOs hurt us, but KSU gets turnovers - they lived off of them all year. And for the life of me I can't understand how you don't use your two time outs at the end of the game when a field goal wins it. 30 seconds w/2 time outs in college can mean 4-5 plays, if not more, and with Sim's leg we needed about 25-30 yards IIRC, but even if it was 40 that is very reasonable in 4-5 plays.

Anyway, though - best season in NIU history - and it's not even over yet - awesome! :)

BUT, would you rather kick to a guy that averages around 40 yards a return?

Yes. Kick it 5 yards deep into the zone and he's at the 35. Plus Archer average 9+ yards/carry and we contained him - who's to say we wouldn't have done the same for kick returns. We KNOW that what we did was the equivalent of a 35-40 yard return anyway.

That missed holding call was so blatant, the ref was staring at it and it was the only thing in his vision. Huskies did overcome an extra man tonight. It just confuses me because thE MAC should know that these two teams were about on the same footing for BCS chances. The common person sees 17 and 21 and can easily get confused and not understand, but we know how the math shapes up and how the Huskies are right there.

RE: MACC game thread
The block in the back call was bad, but it was really the only really obvious bad call against NIU all night. This game was close because NIU played nervous or just not up to their usual standard and Kent State refused to cave. Kent State deserves a ton of credit, they just find ways to stay in/win games.

NIU had 3 turnovers and won. NIU's D was great, the offense/special teams turnovers nearly blew it, not the refs.

And I don't mind Doeren challenging the KSU offense to beat NIU by avoiding Archer on kickoffs/punts. The KSU QB played a really good second half, but the smart money was on making him beat NIU, not allowing Archer to do so.

So wait, help me understand the conspiracy theory from last night. Is it...........the refs were told to call the game in favor of Kent State so they could go to the Orange Bowl? Is that your contention?

My God they missed one bad call against us. Why does that bring out such stupidity in people?

A bit OT but, was anybody other than myself impressed with the NIU turnout last night? Seemed like we easily outnumbered Kent 3 to 1. Seemed like the NIU turnout this year was a little better than last years too.

You are an idiot! If you remember NIU left the MAC for greener pasture. Then came crawling back broke with their tail between their legs.

Your comment is simplely stupid. I'm sure most Huskie fans don't agree with you.

Many likely do, we've been screwed by this conference with 10-2 records.

not that that actually happened, but who would the mac prefer to win, the team that would very likely move to 16 and make the conference $12M of the team that will move to 19 and make them almost nothing? Like I said we finally got the screw the Mac for all the times we've been screwed. no bowl after being in the championship game, runs of 3 road games *after* they said they would stop doing 3 game streaks.
