USM giving up the Nebraska game
So, what do the USM fan's think of this move? I think it's a good move as it allows you guys to pay off that terrible coach everyone seems to disdain. Sure, you give up the one game and it would have been a big home game, but with one game, he's paid off. It's tough paying multiple coachs as Charlotte has been doing the same for about three years now.

It is what it is. I dont have an issues with it. The athletic department made a sacrfice to pay a bill, we all have had to do that at some point.

Sucks, but necessary.

A plan needs to be in place so that this doesn't happen anymore.

I'd rather play money games with a team that has some modicum of respect for us, as Nebraska does, than with some clown college like Bama, LSU, or UGA that will never come to MM Roberts.

I've followed USM in the past mainly due to our first stay in CUSA. Who is to blame for this season? I know Fedora left for Cheater Hill, but is it the coach or those that hired the coach?

You can't blame those that hired him. It's like a boss hiring a bad employee, when the nut cutting comes, do you cut the boss or the employee. EJ apparently wowed people in the interview. I mean I saw an interview with him and I was like Ok we got a coach.

When they asked Fedora a couple weeks ago about the downspiral he admitted 2 things: He hadn't been keeping up and we had the talent to win games.

That's the thing, did USM lose a lot of players prior to this year or did the same players that won in CUSA last year just suck it up this year? If so, that's on the coach. Nevertheless, I'm glad USM has kicked him to the curb and found a neat way to buy him out. Charlotte is basically paying to head basketball coachs at the moment in Major and Lutz. We've been paying Lutz for the last three years and still have another year left. In the meantime Lutz is an assistant to NC State making good money. Must be nice!

I think its both. We didn't go 4-8, we went 0-12. I love Fedora and I think he might have won 6-7 games with that team... but I also observed a pretty severe lack of talent at WR and struggle to understand what Fedora's plan was (other than hauling ass).

It's a great choice right now. It sucks, but it needed to be done. We will have more good home games announced soon, will have a home and home with Miami, a 2 for 1 with Texas A&M, and a home and home with another ACC team. Plus we have Miss St. At home in a couple years. We are going to have some good home games in the future.

I bet Neb is one of the only big-money schools who basically respects everyone. I hate that y'all had to give this game up, but at least it is with them and not some SEC team.

On offense, we lost a four year starting QB, a tackle and 2 WR's. The OT was replaced by a good JuCo guy and the WR's, while listed as starters, were in a rotation of about 8-9 guys, so we really weren't hurt there. The QB loss hurt, but not to the point we should have gone 0-12. We lost 6-7 on defense, but still should have won more than we lost.

Meh, maybe Nebraska does us a solid in the future, it's not like they aren't getting something out of this whole deal.

We basically had the same team back minus a QB, a couple WRs, and a few folks on D.. Our RB was hurt against Nevada and I don't think played much this year.

It wasn't like we lost 30 people.

Thanks for the info. I apologize for my lack of knowledge regarding USM. I was just wondering if USM went through the same thing La Tech is going to go through next season which is losing a crap load of players. Sounds like you guys had the team just not the coach.
