Next Season's Football-
How do y'all think you will do? For ECU, we'll have everyone returning and hopefully a more experienced defense.
Our OOC Schedule will consist of ODU, UNC, NCSU and VPI. We'll beat ODU. NCSU is a toss-up, as is VPI (which is a greater toss-up). We will lose to UNC.
We'll get USM, UAB, FIU and one other West team at home. We have to go to Marshall, La Tech and two other West teams on the road. I'm sure one will be Tulsa.
I will predict that we lose to UNC and VPI. NCSU will be down next year... but they will still be tough. I think we go 2-2 OOC.
In conference, we'll go 6-2 (losses to Tulsa and Marshall).
One more prediction: UAB will play spoiler next year and knock one team out of the East title.

Way to early prediction from me is that LaTech wins 6-7 games next season dealing with a new coach and losing 32 seniors.

It's not definite that Dykes is going anywhere yet. Hold your horses.

I'm holding them for ya. But it's more than just rumors out of Raleigh that lead me to believe he is gone. I cannot share it all on the interverse but trust me, the writing is on the wall.

RE: Next Season's Football-
We have Idaho, Ball St, Ohio and Georgia in OOC. We may be breaking in a new QB and gangnam offense, so we could lose one of those and go 3-1. Assuming we get SMU's old conference schedule, we are guessing we will get ECU, Rice, Tulane, and UTEP at home so that is another 4 wins. Then we should have to go on the road to play UTSA, Tulsa, Marshall, and UAB. Man, really tough to find any losses there either so looks like it should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 11-1 or so unless we reallly get on a roll early and are able to take care of Georgia at their place.
Anything less, would be pretty disappointing.
Ok, I kid. Based on our recent struggles, it would be nice to just keep from sharting our pants and win at least 5 games. We have serious questions at QB, WR, and secondary. Not usually a recipe for success.

RE: Next Season's Football-
get back to Marshall after we hire a DC... If we get a decent one that can at least make the D average, we could push running the table with the offense we have in place. However, if the D fails to improve, we'll be looking at 6-6 or 5-7 again

UTEP is not returning Mike Price. +1. Thats a step in the right direction.I'm really liking Willie Fritz, so hopefully, thats who we have leading our program going into next season.

Marshall should be much better, our D can't be worse (119 of 120 div. 1-A). Cato will be a year older, O-line will be better, young D should improve. They should be a factor in the East and have a shot at 1st/2nd. Injuries will tell the tale for the herd, as most teams. USM will be back to a contender if I were a betting man. UAB is better and could make a big jump. ECU and MU should be the faves in the east w/out UCF.

RE: Next Season's Football-
Rice could be primed for its best season in a long time (at least comparable to the 2008 team which was 10-3). However we do tend to be a streaky team and if we had injuries to key positions, I suppose it could go downhill quickly. I'd be shocked if Rice and Tulsa aren't the two top picks for CUSA West.
First of all, we'll return 18-19 starters and two other guys who are 2 to 3-year starters on defense who were injured this season. Basically we'll lose our top 3 tight ends and 1 key WR on offense, and a DE and LB on defense. And we need to come up with a punter - not like we had one this year really but one of the TEs is also our part-time punter. Taylor McHargue will be a four-year starter at QB, and Chris Boswell is one of the nation's top kickers - those are the two marquee players but there are other all-conference types for sure.
The schedule is pretty manageable too outside of our bodybag game at Texas A&M. Some Rice fans aren't a big fan of the head coach (David Bailiff) but if he can't win at least 8 games with this team and schedule, he'll be gone after 2013.

UCF will blow next year and would of been a non factor anyway as their up and down rollercoaster history has shown.

Where we going? Pretty sure we have to hang around another year just like UCF and company had to this year.

RE: Next Season's Football-
I posted this on our UTSA board earlier this week...
In case the world ends next month... figured I'd at least make my 2013 prediction!!
This is based on what I know of the team (and who is returning for their 3rd straight year of live action), along with very brief study (and what I already know) of our opponents.
8/31 @ New Mexico-W (I think by next season we will be a better overall program than New Mexico)
9/1 vs Oklahoma St-L (Legit top 25 team year in and year out)
9/14 @ Arizona- W (Very inconsistent, and losing their qb... this will be our shocker win)
9/28 vs Houston- L (They'll be better next season and will be able to score in bunches)
TBA - La Tech (Alamodome)- W (Losing All-Conference qb and wr, and keeping their defense)
TBA - Southern Miss (Alamodome)- W (Bad team this season, keeping coaching staff, in turmoil)
TBA - Rice (Alamodome)- W (This is our equivalent team, will be a toss up)
TBA - North Texas (Alamodome)- W (Bad team, don't see the improvement)
TBA - Florida International (Miami)- W (Ditto)
TBA - Tulane (New Orleans)- W (Ditto)
TBA - Tulsa (Tulsa)- L (Good team with lots back)
TBA - UTEP (El Paso)- L (Will be a toss up)
Put me down for a repeat 8-4 season!! AND a bowl game!!

Agree. With Tulsa at home, we finally beat the Golden Hurricane and host ECU in the title game (at least for next year, it will be easier to put up a fancy conference record in the West because I think ECU, Louisiana Tech and Marshall will all be capable of beating each other). Seeing North Texas and UTSA predicting the Rice visit as a win for their program is silly, but shows we still have a ways to go for respect.
