why not a provisional membership for NMST
football only for three years with no fees to join or leave just one year notice by either side. that gives the sun belt nine teams for stability in the short term and allows time to bring up teams you want like Georgia Southern, App St, or James Madison. If needed you can extend the agreement for a season or two. it also adds a level of security if there is any more movement in the near future and gives NMST time to find another home

Not interested in provisional members. Part of the reluctance in admitting NMSU (and my main concern) is that they really dont want to be here. We're looking at stability. At least those of us who aren't going anywhere are.

If you are going to invite someone...treat them equally. If not then you probably shouldnt invite. Makes hard feelings later.

it wont make hard feelings if both sides know its just a tempory fix designed to give both parties time to react to the expansion fallout

We have no exit fees. This needs to change. $10 million to leave!

Grant of rights. No tv for a specified period if you leave.

NMSU already got 2 years worth of teams to play... How would this help them ? because In 2 years Sun Belt should have enough members..

Being a football only provisional would be a symbiotic relationship for NMSU and the Sunbelt. The SB needs FBS teams to meet NCAA requirements while the FCS moveups are in transition and NMSU needs a conference to buy some time to see if they can land in the MW or CUSA. NMSU has there olys in the WAC so there is no need for them to bring their olys to the SB.

That makes no sense, unless every team in the conference is looking to head somewhere else.

When unt and fiu left and ga state and tx state were added, the committed members should have forced a vote for $1 million exit fee. Those that voted against would have showed their cards and the conference could have planned accordingly then to replace teams. This kumbaya sticking together stuff lasted as long as the first knife was available to stab the others in the back.

That is assuming there were any committed members.

I would think those that had no other options were committed. Pressure the next tier to sign on. MTSU and fau wouldn't so you at least call them out as not committed and therefore ignore their request on things like not adding fCs schools. MTSU and fau did nothing but hurt the leaguer the past 9 months.
