RE: Christopher Tolkien Hates LOTR Movies (And The Hobbit)
Thank you. Finally in print that, which I would think, a good number of us thought from the get-go. It took the third one to score an Oscar. I hold Elijah Wood, as an actor, in less esteem than that of Jackson, as a director. Good for Tolkien.
RE: Christopher Tolkien Hates LOTR Movies (And The Hobbit)
I loved the movies. I'm sure I'll love the hobbit.
However, the movies are not the books and vice versa. It's a movie. It will never have character development or details as the book had them. However, on the whole the movies were good (IMO)...AS MOVIES...irregardless of how well they stacked up to the books.
Also, I'm not in the 15-25 age group he mentions, and I've read The Hobbit and all the LOTR books. I love them all too, but just can't compare apples to oranges. I just take them for what they each are.

Oh boo boo! I have lived a comfortable life off the work of my father but I will still complain about the film franchise that brought in millions more.

While I don't disagree with you, Christopher did have a lot to do with the LOTR and Hobbit books - he provided feedback to his father, drew maps, did a lot of editing, and more.
In fact, if it wasn't for Christopher, The Silmarillion would have never been published.
So while he wasn't the talent his father was, he still deserves at least some credit for his work in providing feedback, editing, and publishing his father's works posthumously.

But yeah, he comes off as a winy *****.
LOTR, maybe. But The Hobbit was published in 1937. Not sure how much he had to do with that work.
However, has done some fabulous work editing his father's papers and I really liked The Children of Hurin.
