FAU information...
Here you go CUSA. Hopefully some of my fellow owls will fill in any thing I missed.

Traditions
Having only started football in 2001, we are low on traditions but do have a few strong one.

Before the 1st game of the year the annual bonfire is held where we burn an effigy of our 1st opponent. Last years featured a concert by The Misfits.

We use Owl Fingers as a symbol of showing our FAU pride. Started in 2002 by one of our student groups it has grown quickly and you can see it often. Below is a picture of our most notable NFL player Alfred Morris starting RB for the Washington Redskins, who throws up the Owl Fingers after every TD.

FIU is our main rival. FAU has really embraced it with 24 hour tailgates before the FIU football game and our annual Bury the Burrow in Red event, which is by far the most well attended basketball game of the season. FIU has been somewhat luke warm in returning the rivalry, but I feel now that we are back together it will most likely pick up.

FAU Football stadium:
http://www.fau.edu/stadium/#

This is our crown jewel, featuring both Outdoor and Indoor suites, 2 levels of priority seating, with a current capacity of 30,000 expandable to 45,000.

FAU Arena:
"The Burrow:

Small (3500) but very nice, it was recently redone due to hurricane damage. The Campus Master plan includes a 10K Arrena to be built next to the Football stadium. No time table as of yet for that.

FAU Baseball Stadium.

Not gonna lie, this is our worst facility and its damn shame because FAU baseball has been our most successful sport. Plans to renovate were put on hold to finish the Football stadium. Expect this to be redone next, within 1-2 years IMHO.

Innovation Village Dorms:

Each building has its own Sand Volleyball court, Pool, and BBQ area. A 2nd of these dorms will be completed in the next 2 years.

Student involvement:

One thing that FAU is really doing well is making athletics an integral part of student life. Free T-shirts, concerts, food are often given out. Flyers, Email, and twitter blasts all remind students to get to the games. This has really helped our student attendance at events as evidenced by thier attendance at the last Shula Bowl.

Dance team:

Since I know the majority of you want to see this.

Football stadium is very nice. Not going to lie though, FAU should be embarrassed by that basketball arena. I hope the plans for a new stadium come sooner rather than later.

Baseball stadium looks like it has a lot of potential.

I hope FIU or FAU can compete in basketball like UCF has been able the last year or two.. looks like both of you need new arenas.

It works for now, we dont sell it out. TBH Basketball just isn't a big deal in S. Florida and other then the Bury the Burrow in Red event its not hard to get a ticket. The 10K would look REALLY bad.

Since CUSA is usually good in hoops from what I understand I hope it will help elevate the program so that the 10K is needed.

RE: FAU information...
It's not just about filling it.

Recruits care about facilities. We've had recruits choose us over other schools before because of facilities and we've lost out on recruits because of facilities.

Low class facilities usually bring in a lower caliber of recruit.

You don't have to build a huge arena, it just has to be first class.

Memphis has been CUSA hoops since 2005. It will be interesting to see who rises to the top now that the Tigers are gone. UTEP & UAB have historically been pretty solid, while Southern Miss & Marshall have been improving recently.

I'm really happy for FAU to be rejoining FIU. Glad you won't have to spend 8 years watching FIU reap the rewards of a better conference like we did with USF.

Wait... isn't FAU the school that Howard Schnellenberger loudly insisted would not go to CUSA?

Hey Howard... remember 1990? We're Baaaaack!

I'm sold on FAU just to piss that dude of.

Originally it held 5000, but after the renovation they took out the bench seating and every seat is a chairback. That cut back on the size.

I think its still even listed as 5K, but I know its not near that.

It's plenty big enough for CUSA. Over half our teams don't average 5K

FAU vs FIU

Some good shots of inside the stadium.

With 12 minutes left in the 3rd quarter we had a 40 minute lighting delay, which killed the crowd and atmosphere and even though we lost it was a good game.

Cant wait till 2014 to get that Shula Bowl Trophy back.

Awesome, best of luck!
I'm a junior this year at FAU, and have lived on campus the past 3 years. Even though FAU wasn't my first choice, I've fallen in love with this school and it's community.
The basketball arena will be built within 5 years, no doubt. Baseball renovations have already started. and they'll be done within 3 years.
The second part of Innovation Village is on the other side of the football stadium, compared to the first phase of Innovation Village. The second phase will be Greek Village. In between Greek Village and the stadium will be a parking garage with retail stores and restraunts on the first floor, as well as a seperate plaza with other shops and restraunts. North of that will be the new basketball arena. Long story short, think Kinights Plaze from UCF. That's pretty much what it's going to look like, only the football stadium will be right next to the basketball arena (it's actually being coined as a convention center), just to the right.
I don't know how to post pics, so could somebody do it for me?

Now that I dont get. It's small but looks nice. Chairbacks for every seat, 4 luxury boxes, good scoreboard w/ video screen.

Its just about right for where the basketball program is right now. Hopefully we improve enough to make it necessary to build the new one quicker.
