Congrats to all the runners who completed the race especially those that did their first long distance race at this distance. A big accomplishment.

way off my goal in the full but had fun anyway.
except for the cramps and the heat and my calves and my quads and my hip flexors and my groin and my teeth...

Man, I only did the half but my legs were killing me from the hips down. Had no idea it'd be like that. Just now getting back to normal today. I can't imagine you you full marathoners could even walk.

they're still making fun of me at work today.
Walking, "like a 90 y/o cowboy," as one lady so eloquently put it!

I told my sister that our 92 y/o grandmother would smoke me in a foot race across the living room. true.

Thankfully I feel A LOT better Monday than I did Saturday. My calves/quads were cramping and my hips were hurting.

Finished the full @ 4:38!

I ran the half and finished in 2:01. I ran in 2009 and finished in 1:52. Difference between the two races? Memphis' messed up weather. I have never seen so many people cramping up. I started cramping around mile 6 and never really recovered. I was training early in the morning to anticipate the cold weather, but it was just too warm.

Oh well, I raised right at $1,100 and ran in honor of a friend of the family whose 3 year old was diagnosed with cancer, and that's what is important.

Congrats to all that participated.

Good job on your time. That is really fast. I started feeling like crap at mile 10 or so when I got out of Overton Park. Heat started hitting me once out of the shade.

I was surprised by all the people that were messed up by the heat. I was happy it was warm because cold weather burns the hell out of my throat when I run. I didn't have any cramping problems, either. Next year I plan on training (didn't this year and my legs felt it) and hopefully finishing under 2 hours. This being my first half and not having run since June really I just wanted to finish and not walk, which I accomplished.

Thanks! Same here, by Overton Park, I had thrown my hat and was about to shed some more clothing, but decided against it.

It my cold training runs, I was on pace to run it in 1:40, so getting 2:01 was disappointing. I haven't decided if I am going to run next year.

That's really good for not training. I don't train much, 1 short run (5-6 miles) during the week and 1 long (10-14) on the weekend, but much prefer cold weather. I'm 6'2", 200lbs and I really overheat in anything above 50 degrees regardless of what I am wearing.

FYI it's a bit vulgar, but funny

Not really sure what to say to that.

The zoo and overton park seem like they are all up hill but the crowd was great. After that it feels like you are in traffic again on Poplar and you know the end is near.
