MyBB D-II NEWBERRY W 91-78 (0-0, 3-5)
Can't make it to the game but if I could, I'd strongly consider wearing a paper bag over my head to show my disappointment in the Vegas games.

Given the circumstances and as a season-ticket holder, I expect (not predict, expect) CU to win by 20+. We'll see.

Minter will be introduced at halftime.

Ok first off who are you saying if your were going to be there you would be wearing a bag over you face. Yes our basketball team lost in that tournament but so what. We will win this game and many more to come, as a CAMEL CAZY I will be at the game cheering on my CAMELS. And besides you put a bag over your face you would not be able to see the sweet dunks we are capable of doing.

I think Laing is going to like a fire under them tonight after this road trip. I am looking forward to a convincing win not like the Coker game.

As for introducing Minter I hope we get a good turnout and give him a good impression of our fan base

Yea it needs to be convincing. If we don't win by a good margin I'll be pretty discouraged. I really do believe we're going to destroy Newberry though.

First off, WELCOME to all the new posters!

Though it wasn't obvious, I was joking about the paper bags. Like Crazie said, make a good impression on Minter with the usual GREAT fanbase and atmosphere at Campbell games. However, if we lose to Newberry, barf-bags might be needed!!

Let me explain my bitter tone in post #1. I've been a loyal Campbell fan since (yikes) 1983 and have witnessed some great moments and quite a few seasons very lean on Ws. If only the newer fans could have endured some of the things the older fans have endured!! Now, we finally have everything in place (facilities, talent, fanbase) to really reach our full potential and it's very exciting.

So, let's not have another year like last year where we start strong, but flop in the end. (What was the excuse? Odd BracketBuster game scheduling?)

And like this season, let's not follow five solid performances (including two on the road vs BCS schools....one a #20) with a loss to A&T...make that a 25-pt loss to A&T, followed by a game where we never lead at all vs a slightly better team (maybe, maybe not).

While last weekend was bad, let's be glad it happened early in the season if it had to happen, and let's hope lessons were learned that make the Camels better down the stretch.

OK fans, go cheer-on the Camels and help them win by......at least 20!

RE: D-II NEWBERRY
I agree that this team needs to win, but I disagree with the effect of the facility.

Is it MUCH MUCH MUCH better than all those years in Carter? Absolutely and it is not even close, but did Campbell do anything with its facility to seperate itself from its peers? Not in my mind. Gore Arena is a great place and a great size, but all CU did was catch up at the time of the build with where it needed to be facility wise. In fact some could argue that with Asheville's new facility, Coastal building and more on the way, CU is a middle of the pack facility in North Carolina.

The negatives from the outside looking in are still in place (small town, small school, small fanbase, etc.). I certainly believe Robbie Laing and his staff have done a far better than average job at attracting higher caliber kids. Yes winning is paramount, but as much as I LOVE Buies Creek it is still a VERY tough sell for sports like football and basketball. That is just my opinin however.

After all of that Newberry should be an easy win.

I am with OrangeCamel. I was a student back in the days when we played in Carter Gym and went 2 and whatever. The talent level and facilities are so much better than back then and it gets frustrating to see them lose to teams that they should beat. I was not around when the basketball program had any real success and I feel we have things in place to make a run at the Big South title this year but last year was frustrating to see them fall apart at the end of last season. I think we are all on the same page in the fact that we just want to see them do well and take the program to the next level.

Listening online and they said White injured his shooting hand in practice yesterday. Swollen, but doesn't seem to be a long-term injury.

Oliver is injured, too. Haven't heard the reason.

Good game for White to miss if he had to miss one.

Good to see others step-up.

I'll take this 13-point win, given the circumstances.

A win is a win, to me that's like playing an option team in football. Newberry changes lines like a hockey team and I bet they haven't had a shot clock violation in years. If we can ever get everybody healthy and take advantage of the depth, we may be ok.

Having said that - we have got to play some defense! We are giving up 78 points a game and opponents are shooting 47 percent. That's not going to get it done. And I hope I never have to watch a game with 65 fouls called, what a joke. Renders the game unwatchable.

Robert Morris is no joke, HUGE test Tuesday night. They went to the tourney in 09 and 10, lost by 2 at Xavier.

The 65 fouls made the game drone on and on. It honestly made it hard to keep cheering at certain points in the game. I was only there for half of the game, but Newberry played a very high pressure defense that I haven't seen played for a full half in a very long time. They were playing (in my mind) a high risk/high reward defense by playing like that and if we weren't as talented as we are, it would have worked.

He had a slight wrist injury so they were keeping him out as a precaution.
