It won't happen. Say what you want about the MAC, good or bad, but the core group of schools have been together for a long time and there is a lot of history and stability there. Geography and resources work well in the MAC.

The ONLY way it would ever be entertained is if a group went together. Miami & Ohio, BG and Toledo, Kent & Akron, etc.

I wish. UMass might be our best bet for peeling someone out of the MAC. In fact we should have looked at that. Good market and often good basketball.

RE: The Ohio Bobcats to CUSA
Why would they want to come to CUSA? Most marginally successful schools would consider CUSA a step back right now, especially OU. MAC schools are comfortable where they are. They have a strong core and undertsand where they stand in the pecking order.

No to UMass - terrible on football and B'ball overated.

I hope we can get WKU, they offer tons more than UMass.

UMass has no real loyalty to the MAC.

CUSA won't cherry pick a few MAC schools...regardless of the conference payout.

I would love to see it. But I doubt there is any real interest there, either from CUSA or from Ohio. Ohio U doesn't have much of a market, and they have been in the MAC for a long time. Unlike Marshall, who had only been in the MAC from 1997-2004 for the last go around, an a Temple who had only been there a few years, most MAC schools have been there a long time. Hard to see them leaving those rivalries for a million extra dollars a year or so.

I would also pick WKY over UMass, but I would have picked UMass over FAU. At least if we were are going after markets, we should have gone after a new one.

Actually Ohio has a decent market. 64th (ish) to be exact. They only thing is, Marshall owns that market. They are actually in Chas-Hunt.

Didn't know/think that Ohio U was considered to be in the Huntington/Charleston market. I know they are close to us (90 miles or so) but find it odd that they are considered in our market. *shrug*

The Charleston/Huntington market is the second largest television market in terms of area, east of the Mississippi. It consists of 61 counties in central WV, southeastern OH and eastern KY. Athens County, OH is one of those counties.

It's the 65th ranked Nielsen DMA.

I'm curious on why CUSA won't consider adding a school in Georgia because of the media markets.

I would love it for Marshall / Ohio rivalry history. I've wanted Ohio in CUSA forever and it would be awesome having them as a division rival again.

I wanted Ohio and Toledo back in '05.

The MAC is too stable for anyone to leave right now IMO.

Because Georgia Southern would be another FCS call up and Georgia State is horrible at sports and have almost zero fan support. Plus the fans that they do have are annoying. If you guys think UCF, ECU and Houston fans are cocky, Georgia State fans are just as bad just without the results of the aforementioned schools. They are one good season away from the SEC in their minds.

When titles are written as statements, it makes it sound like a done deal. Can we start adding question marks, or the question icon to post like these? Especially in this rapidly changing sports world.
