Congratulations!!
I sincerely mean that. You absolutely had to get off the sinking ship that is the Big East.....

But the weird thing is, it says that they will be joining when Maryland leaves in 2014.

What about the 27 month clause in the Big East contract that so many WVU fans heard about when accepted into the Big 12? I thought Louisville and Jurich were "too classy" to go against that. At least that was the impression I got from several posters 05-stirthepot

I completely agree, Sandman. I just found it ironic. I am really happy for you guys.

RE: Congratulations!!
considering that the big east has added tulane (?) for all sports and ecu for football only (?) i really wonder how much power the big east has over its departing schools these days. out of the teams that were playing football last season, only THREE of them are left. and out of those three, i do not forsee uconn or uc staying for much longer either.

I understand we already put in our notice awhile back....call it confidence, or just call it a gamble that wouldn't have meant anything if it expired anyways.

Yeah, I think you all put it in last year sometime. That would still put the 27 month waiting period into 2015. Keep in mind, I am not saying Louisville should wait at all. I think you guys need to do what is in the best interest of Louisville. Just found it funny when the tables were turned, WVU was blasted for trying to get out of the waiting period.

I hope we don't get in a big fight with the Big East over when we leave. I imagine they will allow us out with a reasonable fee. Jurich won't want to burn any bridges because he will want to schedule some Big East teams in the future.

I don't know for sure but Aresco might be trying to keep the league together and not be distracted in the Media with an ugly departure and gave a figure for UL to pay and be done. However it could mean someone steps in like Temple did to replace us and keep our schedule like We probably would for Maryland if They are released. Who knows, maybe Villanova gets the call up after all. They did say the next BE invite will not come from CUSA.
