Certainly, something very different from the Times Square Banners put on this board by the Nbe invitees just a few short months ago.

The invitation to Tulane seems to have been a turning point for both CUSA and Nbe. For CUSA, it signaled that this conference would be something very different--not worse--but different. Six new schools (FAU and MTU now join ODU, Charlotte, UTSA, and UNT) now join six old members.

For Nbe, it signaled the final nail in the coffin for its many overstated claims. Rutgers and Louisville have been replaced by ECU and Tulane. Don't get me wrong; I continute to regard ECU and Tulane as fine schools. I hate to see them go. But the CBS article posted on the Realignment Board telling the Catholic schools to get the heck out....is probably going to be followed by many articles in the same vein. Nbe is now in a public relations disaster.

Please remember one salient fact. CUSA, as currently configured, has as many BCS Bowl victories as the Nbe invitees. And, excluding Boise, the current CUSA has as many bowl victories as the Nbe conference. The road to a BCS bowl for NonAQ schools still runs thru Boise; nothing has changed....only the shuffling of chairs.

While I often find your hate of the nBE to be a bit much, this is interesting.

I've long wondered what would happen to Boise when Petersen leaves. I've looked at their recruiting in his tenure and it's not like he's been bringing in hordes of 5 star recruits. He just gets the most out of the guys he gets. He's a phenomenal coach that will be difficult to replace.

There are some attractive jobs on the market this year that he may have a tough time turning down if offered.

The only thing constant is change. When/if they leave that just means the MWC/C-USA will lose more teams, which means that Sun-Belt/FCS teams will be added and so on.

The hierarchy will never change...... why must these types of posts belittling another conference continue

When the TV contract comes out...I have a feeling the attitudes are going to change. Aresco is going suddenly be a hero.

I am extremely skeptical about that. I never bought into those crazy numbers Big East fans were tossing out there before, and just because circumstances changed doesn't mean I'm going to start believing them now. If ECU does better than 3 million a year FB only it's a win for us. 5 million a year it's a home run. Anything above that is a grand slam. I don't have a clue what to expect though.

Yeah, I'm hearing the G-Tech to the B10 "noise" from some fairly knowledgeable folks..maybe UC will have an opening for the ACC after all!
