RE: C-USA Adds MTSU
MTSU was the correct add. I want WKU or Appy State. The former is more likely than the latter.
Georgia State and Texas State are likely candidates too.

I really don't want FAU, and I really, really don't want NMSU. Fortunately, UTEP will do everything it can to prevent NMSU from being added.

I suspect UTEP is next to go, to the MWC

I like UTEP, but I'll never understand how we ended up in a conference with them. For perspective, driving to El Paso? Sure! When you get to Dallas, you're halfway there.

If UTEP goes to the MWC, I don't really care. I'm only concerned about losing Tulsa to that conference.

Quote: @GoMiddle: We're hearing from multiple sources that #FAU could potentially be the next program invited to C-USA. Could come really soon.

Yep. Supposedly they are a better fit than WKU.

We are in a better conference than USA right now (despite this past season), so we can use that in recruiting. Why give up that recruiting advantage by including USA? We do not want them in our league!

I'm all for playing them OOC, but I don't think we want them in conference.

The decision is made by all conference members, not just UAB.

All conference members thought MTSU was a better choice & now probably FAU.

I would suspect USA is above Troy in the pecking order but below FAU & WKU.

Realignment is just stupid. The fact that FAU is the next potential add over WKU is just stupid. Add the quality programs not the ones who happen to play in a big city.

I understand that. I'm saying USA is not a good option for UAB to support. Neither is Troy.

As for the league, MTSU is in a nice area near Nashville and they have been successful in football and basketball. USA may gain support from non-UAB members, but UAB should not support them.

I wouldn't mind Troy as it does give us an in-state rival to build good attendance crowds on but if a choice between Troy & USA, I'd prefer USA even though they're new. They at least have some history & good records in other sports plus I played on their original club football team in the 80's so there's some sentiment as well as common bond of rooting for the underdog to make it.

03-lmfao Some here might argue that it's hard to distinguish the two from that particular part of the state.
